Position: Packaging Equipment Operator

Band: XI

Key Purpose:
Safely operate and maintain defined packaging equipment and related processes to achieve optimal effectiveness.


Key Roles and Responsibilities

Operational Responsibilities

  • Operate equipment and manage associated packaging processes and performance.
  • Ensure and maintain a safe and healthy work environment.
  • Interpret and implement the production plan for your shift.
  • Operate manual and automatic machines online as per standards.
  • Monitor production processes during the shift and correct any negative trends.
  • Ensure process quality and productivity.

Administrative Responsibilities

  • Complete operator workstation administration and take action as required.
  • Complete team room administration as required.
  • Contribute to self-development and problem-solving initiatives.
  • Manage leading and lagging PIs, taking corrective action on negative trends.
  • Use QFRs as per triggers and complete 5 WHY analyses with relevant team members.
  • Contribute to AB reports as required.
  • Conduct autonomous operations.

Key Attributes and Competencies

  • Optimize usage and reduce wastage with permanent solutions.
  • Strong interpersonal skills; ability to work in teams and collaborate.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and practice strong self-management.
  • Problem-solving using basic tools (5 Why, Fishbone, etc.).
  • Reduce machine downtime while ensuring permanent solutions to problems.
  • Analyze graphical data to identify gaps and improve performance.
  • Identify non-standard work and tag defects.
  • Determine spares requirements and request via SAP system.
  • Proficient in using electronic communication devices (tablets, laptops, etc.).

Minimum Requirements

  • Diploma or Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent.
  • Experience in the FMCG industry is an added advantage.
  • Understanding of VPO principles.
