Position Summary
The Driver provides safe, reliable, and professional transportation services for staff, visitors, and program operations in the Arusha Region. This role ensures timely field movements, logistical support, and safe transport of staff and materials.
The Driver is responsible for daily vehicle checks, logbooks, fuel records, basic vehicle care, and adherence to FHI Tanzania transport procedures. As a representative of the organization, the Driver must uphold professionalism, confidentiality, and safeguarding standards.
Reporting: Finance & Admin Manager / Operations Supervisor (or designated supervisor)
Key Responsibilities
- Provide safe and punctual driving services for staff, visitors, and program activities
- Maintain vehicle logbooks, fuel records, and perform basic daily vehicle checks
- Ensure vehicles are clean, roadworthy, and serviced on schedule
- Support logistics tasks, including deliveries, document collection, and field coordination
- Adhere to organizational transport procedures and all road safety regulations
- Demonstrate professional conduct and uphold safeguarding standards at all times
Minimum Qualifications & Requirements
- Valid Tanzanian driving license (appropriate class) with a clean driving record
- Minimum 3 years of professional driving experience (experience in Arusha Region preferred)
- Knowledge of Arusha Region routes and ability to drive on rural roads
- Defensive driving or road safety training is an advantage
- Basic knowledge of vehicle maintenance checks (oil, tyres, coolant, battery, etc.)
- Good communication skills in English and Swahili
- High level of professional integrity
