Job Purpose:
Support credit administration by preparing loan documentation, monitoring the credit portfolio, and performing secretariat duties.
Responsible for ensuring timely and accurate processing, compliance with internal policies and regulations, helping to mitigate credit risk through follow-up and reporting and contributing to the efficiency and integrity of the Bank’s credit operations.
Main Responsibilities:
Ensure timely preparation of loan documentation Prepare, review, and execute loan documents and offer letters. Verify drawdown conditions and serve as a subject matter expert by providing guidance and training on documentation-related matters.
Prepare and share daily documentation and drawdown requests report to the network and other stakeholders.
Proactively manage the loan portfolio to maintain and enhance the quality of the loan book by ensuring strict compliance with approved terms and conditions, identifying potential risks early, and implementing corrective measures to safeguard asset performance.
Ensure that all the conditions subsequent of business are adhered to as per the credit approval. Timely payment of Land rent on properties held as security, and timely renewal of insurance covers to safeguard banks collateral.
Ensure timely review and renewal of credit facilities by submitting periodic reports to relationship officers or managers, thereby avoiding unnecessary extensions
Monitor and track key risk indicators (NPL, PAR, LTV etc.), identify early signs of deterioration, and initiate remedial actions to minimize losses.
Ensure that records for the paid off loans are properly maintained, and the securities are delivered to legitimate owners 30 days after paying off.
Ensure collateral oversight – Conduct regular visits to all collateral assets. Ensure timely renewal of land rent, insurance, title deeds, and valuations. Track and maintain the validity of these items and ensure all related documents are properly recorded in the system.
Ensure full compliance with guarantee program requirements by enforcing timely and accurate reporting, managing claims in borrower default scenarios, and verifying prompt payment of all associated fees in accordance with contractual obligations.
Participate in the closure of audit issues, including internal, external, and BOT audits
Ensure that any disbursement exceptions authorized in cases where standard conditions have not been fully met are resolved and fully closed within a strict 90-day timeframe.
Ensure that queries and enquiries like Loan Balance Requests, Liquidation Requests, Confirmation of no Balance, Collateral Discharge, Loan Application Issues, and Loan Corrections are handled timely and in accordance with SLA (Service Level Agreement
Prepare reports for various credit committees. This includes developing agendas, compiling relevant documents, taking meeting minutes, following up on action items, communicating with stakeholders, and maintaining records, among other responsibilities.
Ensure that all service providers (e.g., quantity surveyors, valuers, collateral managers, guarantors) deliver services in line with contractual obligations, regulatory standards, and performance expectations.
Work closely with Credit Risk, Legal, and business units to implement strategies for monitoring credit exposure and ensuring operational effectiveness.
Adhere to SLAs and TATs, participate in departmental projects, and perform additional duties as assigned by Senior Managers and Head; Credit Administration.
Knowledge and Skills:
Strong understanding of credit and lending principles
Awareness of BOT guidelines, internal policies, and audit
In-depth knowledge of loan documentation and Legal Framework
Collateral management
Risk Management
Audit and reporting
Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to interpret complex financial data and make informed decisions.
Proactiveness and remediation
Attention to detail
Effective communication and Stakeholder’s Management.
Qualifications and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Statistics, Economics, Business Administration, Law or related fields.
Master’s degree or professional certification is an added advantage
At least 3 years’ experience in Credit administration, Loan documentation, Portfolio management and Risk Management in banking or financial services.
