Job Announcement: Senior Engineering Planner

Mbeya Cement Company Limited, a member of Amsons Group, is seeking to recruit a highly motivated Senior Engineering Planner to be based at the Mbeya Plant under a permanent employment contract. The reporting line for the position is to the Planning Manager.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Ensure all planned jobs are aligned with HSE Standards and comply with safety protocols and manufacturer recommendations.

  • Liaise with the supervisors in order to confirm where the planned activities are carried out within the allocated timelines.

  • Ensure availability of all spare parts required for maintenance and repairs so that they are carried out without delays.

  • Ensure all the documentation and records for repairs and maintenance are well stored for future reference.

  • Ensure planning team certify materials received in the warehouse with respect to the quality and quantities so that only approved spare parts are used timely.

  • Coordinate with production on planning major equipment overhauls (shutdowns) and maintenance downtime.

  • Monitor all initiated purchase orders for spare parts or service orders to ensure timely delivery from the most advantageous supplier.

  • Train and support junior planners, and review their outputs.

  • Review contractor maintenance programs.

  • Enhance equipment availability while optimizing cost management.

  • Investigate incidents or recurring failures to implement corrective actions and optimize maintenance intervals.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.

  • Experience: Minimum five (5) years of relevant experience with proven experience in execution and as a maintenance planner, typically in heavy industry, cement, mining, or busy manufacturing industry.

Technical / Behavioral Competencies Required:

  • Computer literacy especially Microsoft Office (ability to manipulate Excel) and CMMS (Work order systems).

  • Ability to analyze engineering drawings (Use of AutoCAD added advantage).

  • Ability to suggest and select better tools for Preventive and Predictive Maintenance.

  • Strong understanding of maintenance procedures, equipment, and troubleshooting.
