Job Opportunity: Legal and Compliance Officer

Location: Dar es Salaam, Tanzania

Job Purpose

We are seeking a qualified and experienced Legal and Compliance Officer to ensure the organization operates in full compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies. The role will provide legal guidance, manage compliance frameworks, and mitigate legal risks in a fast-paced FMCG/National Lottery environment.


Key Responsibilities

  • Provide legal advice and support on corporate, commercial, and regulatory matters
  • Ensure compliance with local laws, industry regulations, and internal policies
  • Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, agreements, and other legal documents
  • Monitor regulatory changes and advise the business on potential impacts
  • Develop, implement, and maintain compliance policies and procedures
  • Conduct compliance risk assessments and support internal audits
  • Liaise with external regulators, legal advisors, and authorities
  • Support investigations and handle legal disputes as necessary
  • Deliver compliance training and awareness programs across the organization

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Law (LLB); Postgraduate qualification or certification in Compliance required
  • Admission to the Bar (Tanzania)
  • Minimum 3–5 years’ experience in a similar role, preferably within FMCG or regulated industries (gaming/lottery)
  • Strong knowledge of Tanzanian legal and regulatory frameworks
  • Experience in contract management and compliance monitoring
  • High level of integrity and professionalism
