Job Opportunity: Head of Internal Audit

CNS Group is seeking a highly experienced and strategic Head of Internal Audit to lead its internal audit function within the Banking sector. This role is based in Dar es Salaam and is responsible for evaluating internal controls, risk management, and governance processes to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.

Job Summary

The Head of Internal Audit will lead and manage audit activities across all business units, providing independent assurance to senior management and the board. The role involves developing audit strategies, identifying control weaknesses, and ensuring adherence to international auditing standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Audit Strategy: Develop and implement the internal audit strategy and annual audit plan.

• Operational Oversight: Lead and manage internal audit activities across all business units.

• Risk & Controls: Evaluate the effectiveness of internal controls, risk management, and governance processes.

• Compliance: Ensure strict adherence to banking regulations, policies, and procedures.

• Reporting: Prepare and present detailed audit reports to senior management and the board.

• Follow-up: Monitor the implementation of audit recommendations and corrective actions.

• External Coordination: Coordinate with external auditors and regulatory authorities.

• Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and develop the internal audit team.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.

• Professional Certification: Mandatory certification such as CPA, ACCA, CIA, or equivalent.

• Experience: * Minimum 8–10 years of experience in auditing.

  • At least 3–5 years in a leadership role.

  • Strong experience in the Banking or Financial Services industry.

• Technical Skills: In-depth knowledge of internal audit frameworks, risk management, and financial controls.

• Soft Skills: Excellent analytical, reporting, stakeholder management, and problem-solving abilities.

• Values: High level of integrity and professional judgment.
