Organizational Context
Under the supervision of the Chief of Mission (CoM) and direct supervision of the Migration Health Physician, the successful candidate will support activities at the Migration Health Assessment Centre (MHAC) in Dar es Salaam.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical & Nursing Duties
- Perform daily nursing activities, including:
- Vital signs assessment (weight, height, vision)
- Sample collection (blood, urine, sputum)
- Laboratory and imaging support
- Vaccination administration
- TB management and treatment
- Assist with pre-departure medical procedures and referrals
Patient Care & Communication
- Provide clear information to migrants/refugees on:
- Health assessment processes
- Treatment and referral procedures
- Conduct pre- and post-counselling (TB, HIV, prevention)
Data & Documentation
- Maintain accurate:
- Patient records
- Biodata and identification verification
- Health registers and reports
- Ensure proper documentation and certification processes
Laboratory & Pharmacy Support
- Ensure proper handling and transportation of samples
- Manage MHAC pharmacy stock, medical kits, and emergency supplies
Program Support
- Support mobile health missions
- Assist with pre-departure documentation and briefings
- Perform medical escort duties when required
Collaboration & Reporting
- Work with:
- IOM departments
- Health providers
- Embassies, UN agencies, and NGOs
- Collect and report statistical data
- Prepare administrative and program reports
Qualifications & Requirements
Education
- Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Nursing from an accredited institution
Licensing
- Valid nursing license to practice in Tanzania
Experience
- Bachelor’s degree: Minimum 3 years’ experience
- Diploma: Minimum 5 years’ experience
Preferred Experience
- TB management
- Immunization programs
- Communicable diseases
- Laboratory testing or public health
Skills & Competencies

- Strong clinical and nursing skills
- Proficiency in phlebotomy
- Knowledge of:
- Preventive healthcare
- Infection prevention and control
- Computer literacy (MS Office)
