Job Purpose
The Water Treatment Technician is responsible for:
- Conducting laboratory analyses and testing
- Interpreting results and adjusting processes
- Supporting quality assurance and compliance
The role also includes problem-solving, auditing, mentoring staff, and ensuring adherence to global standards.
Key Responsibilities
1. Testing & Analysis
- Conduct testing of all parameters in line with TCCC and regulatory standards
- Interpret analytical data and adjust process parameters accordingly
- Maintain accurate laboratory records and reports
2. Quality Systems & Compliance
- Ensure adherence to KORE requirements (training, documentation, instrumentation control)
- Perform quality audits and follow established procedures
- Comply with GMP, safety, health, and environmental standards
3. Laboratory & Equipment Management
- Maintain laboratory instruments (troubleshooting, calibration, repairs)
- Coordinate preventative maintenance and calibration schedules
- Support water treatment plant maintenance activities
4. Process Operations
- Perform Cleaning-in-Place (CIP) processes as per CIP Matrix
- Maintain housekeeping standards in process areas
- Ensure efficient and compliant water treatment processes
5. Problem Solving & Continuous Improvement
- Identify issues through analysis and initiate corrective actions
- Apply structured problem-solving techniques (e.g., 5 WHY)
- Develop and implement action plans
- Verify effectiveness of corrective measures
- Update work instructions to prevent recurrence
- Engage internal teams and external specialists when required
6. Stakeholder Engagement
- Collaborate with:
- Production management
- SHEQ Manager
- Laboratory technicians
- Operations teams
- Liaise with external laboratories and suppliers
- Manage Proficiency Testing Programs
Qualifications & Experience
Education
- Bachelor of Science Degree in:
- Chemistry
- Biochemistry
- Mechanical Engineering
- Chemical Engineering
- Environmental Science
- Or a related field
Experience
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in a food processing plant
- Experience in a bottling environment is preferred
- Background in quality control is an added advantage
