Job Summary

This role supports senior management by delivering insightful financial and business analysis, improving management information quality, and leading the business analytics function. It also plays a key leadership role within the Finance team, contributing strategic and technical solutions to enhance business performance.


Key Responsibilities

1. Planning (40%)

  • Coordinate preparation of medium-term plans and budgets
  • Provide analytical support for quality budget submissions
  • Challenge budgets to ensure realism and performance stretch
  • Ensure adherence to capital budgets
  • Build relationships with budget holders across all levels
  • Align country, group, and cluster financial planning
  • Define budget assumptions and timelines
  • Prepare Board and CMC performance reports

2. Performance Management (50%)

  • Present detailed monthly management accounts and performance analysis
  • Challenge forecasts, plans, and business results
  • Conduct ad hoc financial analysis for senior management
  • Identify cost drivers and recommend cost control strategies
  • Provide segmented financial data (income, cost, balance sheet)
  • Ensure timely and high-quality reporting to Group Finance
  • Develop and monitor capital plans in line with regulatory requirements
  • Stay updated on financial and economic developments
  • Recommend improvements to financial systems
  • Manage group reporting related to planning and performance

3. Staff Management (10%)

  • Support team development and performance improvement
  • Coach team members on planning and performance management
  • Conduct performance evaluations and reviews

Risk and Control Responsibilities

  • Apply risk frameworks and promote a strong risk culture
  • Understand end-to-end processes, risks, and controls
  • Comply with policies and procedures
  • Report and analyze risk incidents
  • Improve internal controls proactively
  • Engage with regulators and stakeholders
  • Complete all mandatory compliance training

Education & Professional Requirements

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in:
    • Accounting
    • Finance
    • Taxation
    • Banking
    • Actuarial Science
    • Computer Science
  • Mandatory: CPA (T) or ACCA (Qualified Certified Accountant)
  • Preferred: Postgraduate qualification in Financial Sciences

Skills & Experience

  • Advanced Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint skills
  • Strong analytical and diagnostic abilities
  • Proven budgeting and financial planning experience
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Understanding of economic and competitive trends
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines
  • Strong leadership and team management skills
  • Minimum:
    • 3+ years leadership experience
    • 5+ years overall professional experience
  • Experience in financial services environment
  • Strong accounting and financial control knowledge
