Job Vacancies

Victoria Finance Plc (VFP) is a leading microfinance company in Tanzania. Established in 2009 and started operation in 2010. The company is a regulated microfinance institution dedicated to providing microfinance services to low and middle-income earners, women, and youths in Tanzania. The company currently has seven branches and one insurance broking subsidiary company – Victoria Insurance Brokers Limited which was established in 2017. Victoria Finance has established branches in Dar es Salaam, Morogoro, Iringa Mbeya and Dodoma with ability to serve smallholder farmers in more than thirteen regions through its digital agriculture products – Kilimo Pesa.

The Company is inviting applications from qualified, experienced and result-oriented professionals to fill various vacancies in the Company.

1. Chief Business Development Officer (CBDO) (1 post)

Reporting to the Managing Director, the CBDO will lead Branch Operations, Sales, Business Development, Portfolio Management and Customer Experience across all branches.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive business growth and market expansion
  • Oversee branch performance and sales targets
  • Manage and safeguard the loan portfolio
  • Supervise Branch Managers, Business Development, Direct Sales & Customer Experience teams

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Finance, Economics or related field
  • MBA is an added advantage
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in Microfinance or Financial Services
  • At least 5 years in a senior leadership role

2. Chief Credit Officer (CCO) (1 post)

Reporting to the Managing Director, the CCO will monitor credit risk and portfolio quality, credit analysis, credit administration and recovery and internal and regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership and oversight of the credit function in compliance with Microfinance Regulations
  • Develop, implement, and enforce credit policies, underwriting standards, and portfolio quality controls
  • Oversee credit appraisal, approvals, loan portfolio performance, collections, and recoveries
  • Manage digital lending platforms and a diverse range of loan financing products including micro, SME, retail, and secured lending
  • Monitor portfolio risk, PAR, NPLs, provisioning, and regulatory reporting

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, Banking, Economics, Accounting, or related field
  • Master’s degree or professional qualification (CPA/ CFA) is an added advantage
  • Minimum 10 (Ten) years’ experience in credit management, with at least five (5) years in senior management level
  • Proven experience in regulated microfinance and digital lending operations

3. Internal Auditor (1 post)

The role of the Internal Auditor is to provide independent assurance that the Company’s risk management, governance, and internal control processes are operating effectively. It encompasses, but is not limited to, the examination and evaluation of the adequacy and effectiveness of Victoria Finance Plc’s governance, risk management, and internal controls as well as the quality of performance in carrying out assigned responsibilities to achieve the stated goals and objectives of Victoria Finance Plc. Key responsibilities include:

  • Preparation of Audit Plan and presentation to Senior Management and Board Audit and Risk Committee for review and approval.
  • Evaluating risk exposure relating to the achievement of the organization’s strategic objectives.
  • Evaluating the reliability and integrity of information and the means used to identify measure, classify, and report such information.
  • Evaluating the systems established to ensure compliance with those policies, plans, procedures, laws, and regulations that could have a significant impact on the organization.
  • Evaluating operations or programs to ascertain whether results are consistent with established objectives and goals and whether the operations or programs are being carried out as planned.
  • Preparation and issuance of quarterly reports to the Board Audit and Risk Committee and where needed to the Board of Directors. The Internal Auditor must communicate management’s response and corrective action taken or to be taken regarding the specific findings and recommendations.

Qualification and Experience

  • Academic and professional qualifications in Auditing or Accounting and a holder of CPA/ACCA/CIA.
  • Ten (10) years’ post-qualification experience in auditing, preferably in banking or microfinance institutions. Five should have been in a senior management role.
  • Knowledge of Global Internal Audit Standards
  • Good experience in financial management, control, planning, and administration

4. Credit Analyst (1 post)

The Credit Analyst will be responsible for assessing loan applications, analysing credit risk, and supporting sound decision in line with Victoria Finance’s credit policies and regulatory requirements. The role aims to ensure portfolio quality while supporting sustainable business growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyse and evaluate loan applications in accordance with approved credit policies and procedures
  • Assess applicants’ financial position, cash flows, repayment capacity, and credit history
  • Prepare detailed credit appraisal reports with recommendations for approval or decline
  • Conduct credit risk assessments and borrower due diligence, including site visits where required
  • Support credit committees and management with accurate and timely credit information

Qualification and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, or related field
  • Minimum of 8 years’ experience in credit analysis or lending within a bank, MFI, or NBFI
  • Knowledge of microfinance products and SME lending
  • Professional qualifications (CPA, ACCA, CFA) will be an added advantage

5. Credit Administration Manager (1 post)

The Credit Administration Manager will oversee credit administration processes, loan documentation, disbursements, portfolio monitoring, and compliance to ensure efficient and controlled lending operations in line with internal policies and regulatory requirements. She/He reports to Chief Credit Officer

Qualification and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field
  • Professional qualifications (CPA, ACCA, LLB, MBA) are an added advantage.
  • Minimum 7 years’ experience in credit administration or credit operations within a bank, MFI, or NBFI

6. Branch Manager (2 posts)

The Branch Manager is responsible for driving sustainable portfolio growth, ensuring strong asset quality, delivering excellent customer service, and advancing financial inclusion in line with Victoria Finance Plc’s mission. She/He reports to Chief Business Development Officer.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead branch business growth through customer acquisition, loan portfolio expansion, and customer experience
  • Ensure high-quality credit appraisal, loan disbursement, monitoring, and recovery to maintain acceptable PAR levels
  • Manage branch operations in compliance with internal policies, procedures, and regulatory guidelines
  • Supervise, mentor, and performance-manage branch staff to achieve operational excellence
  • Prepare and submit accurate branch performance, risk, and compliance reports

Qualification and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, Business Administration, Economics, Accounting, Law, or a related field
  • Professional qualifications (CPA, ACCA, MBA, or equivalent) will be added advantage
  • Minimum of 8 years’ experience in microfinance or banking, with at least 3 years in a managerial or supervisory role
  • Strong practical knowledge of credit management, portfolio quality, and loan recovery

7. Systems Development Officer (1 post)

The role is responsible for shaping the future of inclusive finance through digital innovation and smart systems. Lead the rollout of AI solutions, support new product launches, and make technology work for our customers and communities. Key responsibilities include:

  • Develop, enhance, and maintain core microfinance systems
  • Drive adoption of digital and AI-enabled solutions
  • Support design, testing, and rollout of new financial products
  • Ensure data accuracy, security, and compliance with regulations

Qualification and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, or related field
  • 3-5 years’ experience in systems development, digital banking, or fintech
  • Experience in microfinance/banking and AI solutions is an advantage
  • Strong problem-solving, collaboration, and analytical skills

8. Credit Relationship Officer (2 posts)

A Credit Relationship Officer is responsible for building and maintaining relationships with clients by assessing their creditworthiness, managing loan applications, providing financial advice, and monitoring loan portfolios while ensuring compliance with lending policies and regulations, essentially acting as a bridge between Victoria Finance and its borrowers to facilitate credit facilities while mitigating risks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Actively identify new clients, understand their financial needs, and establish strong relationships to identify potential loan opportunities.
  • Analyze financial statements, credit reports, and other relevant data to assess a client’s creditworthiness and determine loan eligibility.
  • Identify potential credit risks, implement appropriate mitigation strategies, and monitor loan portfolios for early warning signs of delinquency
  • Monitor existing loan accounts, track repayment schedules, and take necessary actions to manage delinquent loans.
  • Maintain accurate records of loan transactions, prepare regular reports for management, and document all credit decisions

Qualification and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or related field
  • Five years of experience in the banking or microfinance industry, preferably in credit analysis or relationship management.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and office management tools.
  • Strong analytical skills to evaluate financial data and assess credit risk

9. Assistant Customer Experience Officer (2 posts)

The Assistant Customer Experience Officer supports the institution’s efforts to provide exceptional service to clients by ensuring a positive and seamless customer journey. This role focuses on addressing customer inquiries, resolving issues, collecting feedback, and welcoming clients and visitors. The position is crucial in promoting Victoria Finance’s mission of delivering accessible financial services with a customer-centric approach.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the first point of contact for customers, handling inquiries via phone, email, or in-person interactions.
  • Ensure that customer interactions are handled professionally and in alignment with the institution’s standards.
  • Support efforts to implement and maintain service quality benchmarks.
  • Provide accurate information on Victoria Finance’s products and services.
  • Maintain a visitor logbook and issue visitor badges as required and assist in scheduling meetings and maintaining appointment calendars.

Qualification and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Marketing, or a related field.
  • 2 years of experience in customer service or a similar role (experience in microfinance or financial services is an advantage).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and basic CRM tools.
  • High level of empathy, patience, and a customer-centric mindset.

10. Recovery Manager

The Recovery Manager is responsible for maximizing loan portfolio recoveries through effective management of delinquent and non-performing loans (NPLs). The role ensures that Victoria Finance PLC maintains healthy portfolio quality, complies with internal credit policies and applicable laws, and minimizes credit losses while preserving customer relationships and the company’s reputation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and improve loan recovery performance and reduce NPLs
  • Supervise recovery officers and set recovery targets
  • Implement effective recovery strategies, restructurings, and settlements
  • Coordinate legal recoveries, repossessions, and auctions
  • Ensure compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements
  • Prepare recovery and portfolio performance reports for management

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, Business, Economics, Law, or related field
  • Minimum 8 years’ experience in credit recovery or collections
  • At least 3 years in a supervisory/managerial role
  • Strong negotiation, leadership, and analytical skills
