Job Purpose
The Business Development Officer – Bancassurance will be responsible for generating and distributing profitable Britam insurance products through banking channels.
The role involves close collaboration with:
- Bank Managers
- Bancassurance Officers
- Relationship Officers
The objective is to generate quality business leads and ensure sustainable growth of the bancassurance portfolio. The role reports to the Sales Manager – Bancassurance.
Key Responsibilities
1. Business Growth & Sales Development
- Drive profitable business growth through banking partners
- Develop account strategies to maximize partner potential
- Generate new business and retain existing clients
- Ensure delivery of sales targets per bank partner
2. Renewal & Retention Management
- Oversee renewal processes to achieve 90% renewal rate
- Ensure timely follow-up on all renewals
- Maintain strong retention ratios across the portfolio
3. Relationship Management
- Build and maintain strong relationships with bank partners
- Conduct regular visits to support relationship officers and managers
- Manage key accounts and stakeholder engagement
4. Training & Capacity Building
- Develop and implement training calendars for bank partners
- Deliver training on products, processes, and sales techniques
- Support continuous learning and performance improvement
5. Data & Performance Analysis
- Analyze channel performance data to support decision-making
- Provide insights to improve sales and growth strategies
- Prepare accurate reports for business and strategy meetings
6. Operations & Coordination
- Coordinate with underwriting and claims departments
- Ensure smooth service delivery to banks and clients
- Align business activities with service level agreements (SLAs)
7. Premium Collection & Follow-up
- Follow up on outstanding premiums (IPF, bank credits, cancelled business)
- Ensure timely resolution of pending payments
8. Quotations & Tenders
- Prepare accurate and competitive insurance quotations
- Oversee tender processing and documentation submission
9. Product Development
- Participate in product development initiatives
- Ensure products meet the needs of bank partners
10. Team & Performance Management
- Supervise Bancassurance Relationship Executives
- Ensure achievement of team goals and performance targets
- Support staff development and coaching

Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a business-related field (Insurance specialization preferred)
- Professional insurance qualification (e.g., CII or equivalent)
- 3–4 years’ experience in sales (insurance sector preferred)
- Strong understanding of insurance products and industry concepts
- Proven experience managing bank partnerships and relationships
- Strong communication, negotiation, and analytical skills
