VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT: COUNTRY HEAD INTERNAL CONTROL

JOB OBJECTIVES

To develop and implement strategies that drive and build a policy and regulatory compliance environment across the bank, while providing compliance advisory services to Management.

KEY RESULT AREAS

• Strategy & Planning: Develop, cascade, and monitor the implementation of internal control strategies and work plans aligned with the bank’s overall strategy.

• Team Leadership: Train, motivate, and manage the performance of the Internal Control team to enhance productivity through daily supervision and leadership.

• Compliance Culture: Design and implement monitoring tools to ensure a homogenous compliance culture through continuous reviews of branch and Head Office functions.

• Cost Control: Review expenses and control costs by conducting periodic assessments and approvals of budget requests.

• Fraud Prevention: Create and implement fraud control measures across all operations and GL accounts, including leading investigations into fraud cases and customer complaints.

• Financial Integrity: Ensure GL accounts are proofed, reconciled, and resolved in accordance with control policies.

• Advisory Support: Provide guidance for building strong KYC compliance and identify policy inadequacies for process improvement.

• Training: Design and implement sensitization plans based on learning points from investigations or policy lapses.

• Reporting: Prepare and submit weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports to the MD, EXCO, and relevant stakeholders.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

• Education: BSc, MSC, or MBA degree.

• Experience: A minimum of 5 (five) years of experience in the banking sector.

• Knowledge & Skills:

  • Analytical and Investigation Skills.

  • Auditing and Accounting Skills.

  • Comprehensive Banking Operations (Domestic and Foreign) and Credit Skills.

  • Comprehensive Treasury skills and Fraud/Operational risk knowledge.

  • Policy and Regulation interpretation and implementation.

  • Expertise in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and core banking applications.

• Personal Attributes:

  • Strategic thinking and problem-solving ability.

  • Leadership and interpersonal relationship skills.

  • Independent-minded with a multi-disciplinary disposition.

  • Attention to detail and the ability to perform under pressure.
