ABOUT GEITA GOLD MINING LTD

Geita Gold Mining Ltd (GGML) is Tanzania’s leading gold producer with a single operation in Geita Region. The company is a subsidiary of AngloGold Ashanti, an international gold producer headquartered in South Africa, with operations in more than ten countries, in four continents. The mine is situated in the Lake Victoria Gold fields of Northwestern Tanzania, only about 85 km’s from Mwanza City and 20 km’s Southeast of the nearest point of Lake Victoria. OBJECTIVE OF THE ROLE

Providing a secure environment for the conduct of the mine’s activities and security of its assets by enforcing Security policies and procedures and by constant monitoring thereof to ensure compliance and to ensure safeguarding by prevention/detection/Apprehension/protection) of the Company’s assets (life of people and company properties) within the sector deployed

ROLE ACCOUNTABILITIES

Risk Management & Incident Response

  • Hazard Identification: Proactively identify security hazards and risks that could lead to company loss, taking immediate action to rectify situations or reporting to leadership for strategic mitigation.
  • Incident Response: Serve as the primary responder to alarms and security incidents; provide real-time feedback to the Control Room/CCTV and ensure the preservation of incident scenes.
  • Investigations: Manage crime scenes according to established procedures and conduct preliminary investigations, ensuring all gathered intelligence is seamlessly handed over to the formal investigations team.
  • Continuous Reporting: Monitor and report on potential losses (minimum of four per shift cycle) to ensure continuous improvement in site security

Safety, Health, and Environment (SHE) & Compliance

  • Safety Leadership & Oversight: Drive a “zero-harm” culture by ensuring 100% compliance with all Safety, Health, and Environmental policies among subordinates and contract partners.
  • PPE Enforcement: Guarantee the rigorous and consistent use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) across all areas of responsibility to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Operational Readiness: Actively participate in pre-shift “toolbox” meetings and safety briefings to ensure team alignment on daily hazards and operational goals.
  • Risk Assessment: Conduct “Take 5” safety assessments for every assigned task, ensuring that individual and team risks are evaluated before work begins.
  • Hazard Management: Proactively identify and report hazards that pose a risk to both security integrity and broader mining operations, facilitating immediate corrective action.
  • Site Governance: Oversee the cleanliness and professional upkeep of all contract security posts, ensuring they meet the company’s environmental and operational standards.

Operational Efficiency

  • Business Continuity: Prevent production stoppages by maintaining a secure, interference-free environment for all mining departments.
  • Site Excellence: Oversee the professional upkeep of all security posts and infrastructure within your area of accountability.

Administration & Oversight

  • Standards: Maintain elite levels of integrity, discipline, and confidentiality.
  • Quality Control: Conduct weekly PTOs and rigorous inspections of firearms and security tech.
  • Reporting: Manage all security registers, systems, and disciplinary actions.

ROLE REQUIREMENTS

Education & Qualification

  • Ordinary Certificate in Secondary school eduction

Experience, Knowledge and Skills

  • Minimum of two years of work experience specifically within the mining extraction industry security sector.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Fluency in both Swahili and English.
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to work effectively without close supervision.
  • Attributes: Must demonstrate elite levels of integrity, discipline, and confidentiality
