Job Summary
The Treasury Middle Office Analyst supports the financial reporting and control framework within Global Markets and Treasury. The role ensures compliance with internal standards and accounting frameworks such as IAS 39 / IFRS 9, while maintaining strong risk management and product control processes.
Key focus areas include:
- Accurate financial reporting (P&L)
- Risk control and monitoring
- Product control framework coordination
- Treasury and Global Markets support
Key Responsibilities
1. Financial Reporting & Product Control
- Prepare and validate daily and monthly Profit & Loss (P&L) reports for Global Markets and Treasury
- Ensure accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting
- Maintain compliance with financial control standards
- Support financial reporting processes and product control infrastructure
2. Reconciliations & Controls
- Perform daily reconciliations including:
- Front Office / Back Office (FOBO) reconciliations
- Back Office / Back Office (BOBO) reconciliations
- Cash wash (suspense accounts)
- Internal funding reconciliations
- Inter-desk reconciliations
3. Risk Management & Compliance
- Support risk identification, monitoring, and control within Treasury and Global Markets
- Ensure compliance with accounting policies and Absa standards
- Apply risk frameworks and promote a strong risk culture
- Report risk events, incidents, and issues using defined processes
- Support audit and MOM standards compliance
- Coordinate TRC / MRCC reporting and meeting minutes
4. Systems, Automation & Process Improvement
- Recommend and implement automation solutions for risk monitoring
- Improve efficiency of Middle Office processes
- Standardize and refine procedures
- Support system change initiatives affecting Middle Office operations
5. Stakeholder Support & Reporting
- Provide Management Information (MI) reports for Global Markets activities
- Support Front Office, Finance, and Management with position and performance data
- Communicate accounting and policy changes across teams
6. Capability Building & Team Development
- Train and develop team members in product control and technical expertise
- Build a strong Middle Office capability and culture
- Share knowledge and promote best practices
- Maintain professional development in banking and market practices
7. Governance & Continuous Improvement
- Ensure adherence to internal policies and governance standards
- Identify control gaps and recommend improvements
- Participate in regulatory and compliance engagements
- Promote continuous improvement in risk and control environments
Required Skills & Competencies
Technical Skills
- Strong understanding of Treasury products (FX, Money Market, Derivatives, Fixed Income)
- Knowledge of market risk methodologies and tools
- Experience in Treasury risk and finance systems
- Understanding of IFRS standards (especially IFRS 9)
- Knowledge of product control and financial reporting practices

Education & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in:
- Finance
- Accounting
- Banking
- Actuarial Science
- Or related field
- Higher Diploma in Financial Sciences (Required)
- Professional certification (advantage):
- ACI
- CPA
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in Treasury or accounting functions
- Experience in multinational or matrix-structured environments (preferred)
- Exposure to banking, financial reporting, or market risk environments
