Position: Expatriate Heavy Duty (HD) Mechanic – 1 Vacancy

Job Purpose
To provide leadership and technical expertise in the maintenance of mining equipment, ensuring safe, efficient, and cost-effective operations in line with BGML Mining Safety Standards, Policies, and Procedures. The role also supports skills development and training of local workforce through best practice maintenance systems.
Key Responsibilities
Maintenance Operations
- Perform mechanical repairs and preventive maintenance on plant and mobile equipment
- Ensure equipment is maintained safely and efficiently to meet production and cost targets
- Carry out troubleshooting, fault finding, and corrective maintenance for breakdowns
- Ensure maximum equipment availability through effective maintenance practices
Fault Reporting & Technical Support
- Report defects and breakdowns to supervisors on each shift
- Provide effective maintenance solutions for equipment issues
- Give timely feedback on equipment condition and performance
Compliance & Safety
- Follow all maintenance procedures and safety standards
- Ensure proper equipment isolation procedures
- Comply with working at height and confined space regulations
- Conduct pre-start checks and inspections
Preventive Maintenance & Planning
- Perform scheduled PM inspections
- Ensure compliance with preventive maintenance plans
- Identify critical spares and initiate procurement requests
- Plan corrective maintenance activities with supervisors
Equipment Repair & Overhaul
- Remove and replace machine components
- Conduct equipment upgrades and modifications where required
- Ensure proper maintenance and overhaul of mechanical and electrical systems
Coordination & Reporting
- Complete shift handovers effectively
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and reports
- Follow up on outstanding maintenance and repairs
Training & Development
- Provide on-the-job training and coaching to team members
- Support skills transfer and workforce development
- Contribute to coordination of engineering operations and fleet management
Maintenance Systems
- Ensure maintenance practices align with industry standards
- Perform statutory inspections and testing on electrical systems
- Support continuous improvement in maintenance processes
Qualifications
- Trade Certificate in:
- Diesel Mechanic
- Fitter
- Valid Driver’s License
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 5 years experience as a Diesel Mechanic or Fitter
- Strong experience in:
- Mobile and plant equipment maintenance
- Fault finding and repairs
- Preventive maintenance systems
- Mining or heavy industrial environments
