CORE JOB DESCRIPTION
The Core Network Engineer is responsible for:
- Designing, implementing, and maintaining high-capacity backbone infrastructure
- Ensuring maximum uptime and network performance
KEY TASKS
- Maintain wireless radio core network elements (MSC, MGW, HLR)
- Maintain wireless access network elements (BSC, BTS)
- Configure and manage faults in radio core and access networks
- Restore faults related to BTS, MGW, BSC, MSC equipment
- Conduct coverage optimization and system performance analysis
- Perform software upgrades and manage licenses
- Conduct routine inspections of systems and equipment
- Perform preventive maintenance as per manufacturer guidelines
- Resolve escalated faults within SLA timelines
- Follow safety procedures during maintenance
- Notify Network Management Centre (NMC) before site access
- Provide updates to NMC on fault status
- Prepare Root Cause Analysis (RCA) reports for major/recurrent faults
EDUCATION
- Degree in:
- Telecommunications
- Communication Engineering
- Electronics Engineering
- Or related field
- Must be registered by ERB as a Professional Engineer
KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in the telecommunications sector
- Experience in managing core network components, configuration, and maintenance
