Carrier Opportunity: Project Officer (2 Positions)

Tanzania Education Network / Mtandao wa Elimu Tanzania (TEN/MET) is a leading civil society coalition advocating for inclusive, equitable, and quality education in Tanzania. TEN/MET seeks to recruit two proactive and dynamic Project Officers to provide technical and operational support for projects focused on enhancing teacher motivation in the Tanzanian education system.

Job Overview

  • Reports to: Project Manager

  • Location: Dar es Salaam

  • Contract Duration: One year (Renewable based on performance)

Key Responsibilities

Project Planning and Management

  • Lead the technical implementation of key project activities and provide technical assistance to local partners.

  • Identify and manage project risks, escalating critical issues to Senior Management and donors.

  • Coordinate with implementing partners to scale up activities in target regions.

  • Maintain high-quality, timely project reporting and communications aligned with donor requirements and TEN/MET standards.

  • Share evidence-based lessons learned to enhance local planning and implementation.

Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEAL)

  • Collaborate with the M&E team to monitor results, adjust targets, and develop annual work plans.

  • Gather and analyze performance data to assess impact and sustainability.

  • Document and share project best practices, lessons learned, and success stories.

  • Support all monitoring, evaluation, and research tasks, ensuring timely submission of reports.

  • Plan and facilitate reflective learning forums with internal teams and external stakeholders.

Resource Management & Networking

  • Manage project budgets within approved spending levels and ensure accurate financial reports.

  • Ensure stewardship and accountability for program assets, materials, and financial resources.

  • Represent TEN/MET in networking meetings, workshops, and conferences at district, regional, and national levels.

  • Ensure visibility and recognition of donor and program interventions among partners and communities.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Project Planning and Management, Monitoring and Evaluation, Education, Community Development, Development Studies, or related field. A Master’s degree in a relevant field is an added advantage.

  • Experience: Minimum of 7 years managing donor-funded projects in the non-profit or development sector.

  • Technical Knowledge: Knowledge of the Tanzania education system and teacher workforce management is an added advantage.

  • Language: Excellent communication skills in both English and Swahili.

  • IT Skills: Proficiency in MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).

  • Core Competencies: Strong leadership, problem-solving, and result-based report writing skills.
