System Administrator: Charging systems — Monitoring and performance
Location
Dar es Salaam
Role Purpose
The System Administrator will be responsible for ensuring that charging systems and their integrated components operate efficiently. The role also involves ensuring that infrastructure, including servers, storage, and software systems, operates reliably, securely, and at peak performance.
Key Accountabilities and Decision Ownership
- System maintenance
- Execute and automate daily system health checks to ensure service and system availability is at 99.999%.
- Quickly identify faulty systems or potential failures.
- Suggest proactive and preventive fixes before problems occur.
- Security and monitoring
- Monitor system performance.
- Implement security measures to prevent breaches.
- Conduct regular security testing.
- Data backup and recovery
- Establish and manage automated backups to ensure data integrity.
- Support disaster recovery capabilities.
- Plan and execute backup recovery plans.
- Sign off for TRP validation.
- User management
- Create, update, and manage user accounts.
- Manage permissions and access rights.
- Automate the process of application, database, and operating system user reviews.
- Troubleshooting
- Analyse customer complaints using available tools.
- Provide responses within the agreed SLA.
- Documentation
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of system configurations.
- Keep clear records of procedures and service activities.
- Test creation and execution
- Create detailed, comprehensive, and well-structured test plans and test cases for all released patches and fixes.
- Ensure tests are properly created for new products and MPS.
- Monitoring and optimization
- Use tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, and ELK Stack to ensure carrier-grade performance.
- Support scalability and 24/7 system reliability.
- Customer and vendor support
- Ensure all suppliers provide services according to the agreement.
- Ensure supplier compliance with company policies and standards.
- Provide responses to customer queries according to the agreed SLA.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Technical expertise
- Proficiency with Linux operating systems.
- Experience with virtualization technologies such as VMware and Hyper-V.
- Knowledge of networking protocols, including TCP/IP.
- Cloud and virtualization
- Experience with OpenStack, VMware, KVM, and Kubernetes platforms such as OpenShift or Rancher.
- Problem-solving
- Strong troubleshooting skills to resolve customer and configuration problems under pressure.
- Strong analytical skills to determine root causes.
- Security awareness
- Knowledge of firewalls, data protection policies, and cybersecurity best practices.
- Communication
- Ability to explain technical issues to non-technical staff.
- Ability to provide technical support clearly and effectively.
- Education and experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Information Technology, or Telecommunication Engineering from a recognized university.
- 2 to 5 years of working experience in a Linux-based environment and cloud-based platform.
- Additional skills
- Ability to work with minimum supervision under strict deadlines.
- Experience with scripting languages such as PowerShell or Bash for automation.

Reconciliation Analyst

Role Purpose
The Reconciliation Analyst will be responsible for reviewing and resolving all discrepancies across internal and external accounts. The role includes daily review of data transmitted to government systems, identifying discrepancies, and reconciling them accordingly.
Key Accountabilities and Decision Ownership
- Conduct daily reviews of data transmitted to government authorities.
- Identify and resolve discrepancies between source systems, intermediate systems, and final output.
- Review bill cancellations and completions.
- Review and provide resolution of daily transactions with discrepancies for both internal and external accounts.
- Communicate effectively with third parties and government entities to ensure discrepancies are resolved in a timely manner.
- Develop and maintain data integrity and control processes or checks.
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly reconciliation reports.
- Ensure all tasks are resolved within the stipulated SLA.
- Manage operations, administration, and security of systems under the Intelligence and Data division in line with company standards, policies, procedures, and industry best practices.
- Take responsibility for Business Continuity Planning and Disaster Recovery Planning for all systems under the Intelligence and Data division.
Core Competencies and Experience
- Programming and SQL knowledge.
- At least two years of experience in the IT or telecommunications field.
- Experience working with large data sets in Management Information Systems.
- Experience integrating various data sources, including APIs and ETL processes.
- Strong proficiency in data visualization platforms, including Power BI.
- Strong attention to detail, especially in data accuracy and reconciliation.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
- Strong understanding of general BI and data warehouse best practices.
- Ability to create, optimize, and troubleshoot complex SQL statements.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
- Proactive and able to work well under pressure.
