Role Overview
The Manager: Transport Operations is responsible for designing and implementing regional client service delivery strategies, ensuring efficient transport operations, and improving profitability and service quality.
This role focuses on:
- End-to-end transport operations management
- Client satisfaction and relationship building
- Operational efficiency and cost optimisation
- Compliance, reporting, and billing accuracy
- Team leadership and performance management
Key Responsibilities
1. Operational Leadership
- Oversee daily transport management operations
- Ensure adherence to SLAs, SOPs, and industry best practices
- Coordinate internal teams to ensure smooth service delivery
- Optimise transport operations and workflow efficiency
2. Client & Stakeholder Management
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and subcontractors
- Support business development and growth initiatives
- Ensure high levels of client satisfaction and service delivery consistency
- Act as a key liaison between internal teams and external stakeholders
3. Team Leadership & Development
- Lead, mentor, and develop the client services/operations team
- Promote accountability, performance excellence, and customer focus
- Foster a positive and collaborative team culture
4. Reporting & Compliance
- Ensure accurate and timely operational reporting
- Maintain compliance with transport regulations and governance standards
- Use Transport Management Systems (TMS) effectively for planning and reporting
5. Financial Control & Billing Accuracy
- Ensure correct application of transport rates and charges
- Validate billing data and support month-end financial processes
- Investigate discrepancies (e.g., unbilled or incorrectly rated loads)
- Identify cost-saving opportunities and improve profitability
6. Systems & Data Analysis
- Work with Transport Management Systems (TMS) and planning tools
- Use tracking systems (e.g., Pullsit, C-Track) for operational visibility
- Analyse operational data to identify trends, inefficiencies, and improvements

Required Qualifications
- Minimum: Matric (high school qualification)
- Advantage: Qualification in Logistics or related field
Required Experience & Skills
- At least 5 years’ experience in logistics operations or supervisory/management role
- Experience with:
- Transport Management Systems (TMS)
- Planning software
- Tracking systems (e.g., Pullsit, C-Track)
- Cross-border transport operations experience (essential)
