Job Summary

The Markets Sales Dealer: Commercial and E-Channels role sits within the CIB Markets Sales function and reports to the Head of Markets Sales.

The role focuses on:

  • Managing customer relationships
  • Selling derivatives and risk management products
  • Expanding Markets business opportunities
  • Delivering customer-focused financial solutions
  • Supporting revenue growth and risk management objectives

The position works closely with:

  • Corporate Banking
  • Business Banking
  • Investment Banking

  • Retail Banking

Purpose of the Role

The successful candidate will:

  • Serve as a key Markets Sales contact internally and externally
  • Support Corporate and Commercial clients with Markets solutions
  • Develop Risk Management Products opportunities
  • Drive the Markets business strategy
  • Build and maintain strong customer relationships

Key Responsibilities

Client Portfolio & Relationship Management

  • Manage a portfolio of clients for Markets Risk Management Products
  • Develop relationships with:
    • Commercial Relationship Managers
    • Corporate clients
    • Internal stakeholders
  • Act as a trusted Markets adviser to customers

Product Sales & Trading

Drive sales and usage of:

  • Absa Access FX
  • Investment products
  • Risk Management Products

Additional responsibilities:

  • Trade directly with customers where required
  • Promote CIB Markets solutions across customer segments
  • Expand the customer base for Markets products and services

Business Growth & Performance

  • Meet profitability and volume targets
  • Support preparation of the annual Markets strategic plan
  • Provide regular monthly performance feedback
  • Maintain adherence to policies, procedures, and credit limits

Risk & Compliance

  • Apply risk management frameworks and controls
  • Report operational and risk incidents appropriately
  • Promote a strong risk and compliance culture
  • Identify opportunities to strengthen operational controls

Required Qualifications & Experience

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in:
    • Business
    • Commerce
    • Management Studies
  • Professional qualifications required
  • Postgraduate qualification preferred

Experience

  • Minimum 2 years banking experience
  • At least 1 year within a Global Markets environment
  • Proven trading experience and track record

Certifications

  • Basic ACI Dealing Certificate
