Job Description
The Storekeeper will be responsible for ensuring:
- Correct quality, quantity, specifications, and condition of materials received from vendors
- Proper storage and handling of materials for easy access, identification, verification, and maintenance
- Effective inventory control and reporting of all materials movement
Primary Responsibilities
The successful candidate will:
- Prepare daily reports to Headquarters (HQ) based on minute-to-minute movement of materials received and issued.
- Exercise general control over all store activities using a logbook for daily in-and-out material movement.
- Ensure units and quantities are accurately recorded.
- Check the quality and quantity of materials sent directly to sites and those received from HQ.
- Receive and inspect incoming materials and reconcile them with purchase orders.
- Process and distribute procurement documentation together with purchase orders.
- Reserve specific materials for designated jobs when required.
- Issue materials only in approved quantities against authorized requisition notes or material lists.
- Conduct frequent stock checks by comparing physical stock with recorded balances.
- Monitor:
- Fuel usage
- Equipment
- Machinery on site
- Submit weekly stock balances to the Procurement Head at HQ.
- Resolve discrepancies relating to:
- Receipts
- Deliveries
- Warranties
- Repairs
- Surplus supplies
- Maintain the stores and yard area in a safe, clean, and organized condition.
- Ensure all daily utilized items are signed by:
- Storekeeper
- Site Quantity Surveyor (QS)
- Site Engineer
Requirements
Applicants should possess:
- Bachelor’s Degree or Higher Diploma in Procurement
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in:
- Storekeeping
- Inventory control
- Recordkeeping
- Experience with a reputable construction company will be an added advantage.
- Mandatory knowledge of construction materials.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong:
- Organizational skills
- Verbal communication skills
- Written communication skills
- High attention to detail and ability to multitask effectively.
- Good time management skills.
- Ability to pass practical written examinations.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
The successful candidate will be evaluated based on:
- Zero errors in:
- Daily reports
- Weekly reports
- Monthly reports
- Positive Internal Audit feedback
- Proactiveness in identifying fast-moving construction items.
- Zero theft incidents involving:
- Materials
- Fuel
- Timely submission of daily logbooks showing:
- Item utilization
- Quantities
- Measurements
