Community UN Volunteer – Anticipatory Action Support
Duty Station

Field Travel Areas
Frequent travel will be required to:

- Monduli District
- Longido District
- Simanjiro District
Project Context
Climate extremes are a major driver of food insecurity in Tanzania. WFP is supporting the Government and partners to strengthen:
- Climate services
- Early warning systems
- Anticipatory Action (AA)
- Disaster Risk Management systems
The selected UN Volunteer will support operational readiness and programme implementation in target districts where WFP currently has no field presence.
Key Responsibilities
Under the supervision of the Anticipatory Action Programme Lead, the volunteer will:
- Support operational roll-out and readiness activities in target districts.
- Coordinate with district authorities, local leaders, and stakeholders.
- Conduct community sensitization and awareness activities on Anticipatory Action.
- Assist in data collection, verification, and documentation.
- Support organization of:
- Meetings
- Trainings
- Community field activities
- Monitor programme implementation and prepare field reports.
- Identify operational challenges and propose practical solutions.
- Document lessons learned and good practices.
- Perform other related duties assigned by the supervisor.
Eligibility Criteria
Nationality
Applicants must:
- Be nationals, legal residents, or refugees in the country of assignment.
Age
- 18 – 80 years
Education Requirements
A Technical/Vocational Diploma in:
- Disaster Management
- Climate Change
- Development Studies
- Agriculture
- Or related fields
is considered an advantage.
Experience Required
Applicants should have:
- At least 2 years of relevant experience in:
- Community-based projects
- Disaster risk reduction
- Climate adaptation
- Humanitarian programmes
Additional Experience
- Working with local government authorities and communities.
- Knowledge of:
- Early warning systems
- Early action interventions
- Climate-related programming
Required Skills and Competencies
The ideal candidate should possess:
- Strong interpersonal and community engagement skills
- Ability to work independently in remote areas
- Flexibility and willingness to travel frequently
- Cultural sensitivity and professionalism
- Strong communication, coordination, and reporting skills
