Job Title: Relationship Manager – Institutional & Retail Deposits
Reports To: Business Manager-Deposits and Branch Network
Purpose of the Job
The Relationship Manager – Institutional and Retail Deposits is responsible for driving the growth and management of Institutional and Retail deposit products (such as Call Accounts, Savings Accounts, Current Accounts, Trust Accounts, Fixed Deposits for individuals, groups MSE & Institutions) across all channels. The role involves product development and strategy, customer acquisition, portfolio management, crossfunctional coordination, and ensuring regulatory compliance.
Key Accountabilities
1. Business Development & Growth

Develop and implement strategies to grow the Institutional and Retail deposit base.

Drive CASA (Current Account Savings Account) acquisition and balance growth.

Identify and implement initiatives to improve customer retention and reduce churn.

Monitor market trends and competitor offerings to recommend pricing or product positioning changes.
2. Product Management
-
Oversee the lifecycle of deposit products: design, launch, pricing, bundling, and ongoing enhancement.

Collaborate with product, marketing, digital, and analytics teams to improve product features and customer experience.

Ensure alignment of deposit products with customer segments (mass, affluent, senior citizens, youth, institutions etc.).
3. Sales Support & Channel Enablement

Coordinate with branch managers, sales team, and digital teams to drive overall deposit mobilization.

Develop and execute training programs for front-line staff.
-
Create sales tools, pitch decks, and collateral to support customer acquisition.
4. Portfolio Management
-
Analyze customer portfolio data to identify opportunities for upselling or cross-selling.

Work on campaigns to increase average balances and deepen relationships.

Track and improve key metrics such as CASA ratio, cost of funds, and customer engagement.
5. Risk, Compliance & Audit
-
Ensure all products and processes adhere to regulatory and internal compliance requirements.

Liaise with risk and audit teams to ensure timely closure of audit points.

Monitor KYC/AML compliance and ensure high standards of due diligence across acquisition.
6. Reporting & Analytics

Prepare periodic MIS reports on product performance, customer insights, and market trends.

Track KPIs and use data-driven insights for decision-making and planning.
Thinking Requirements and Working Complexity

Problem-solving and analytical skills to interpret sales performance and market trend information.

Ability to identify risks and proactively work on mitigating the risks.
Knowledge and Experience Required of Job Holder
-
Bachelor’s degree in business, Finance, or related field.
-
5-10 years of experience in retail/institutional banking, with specific experience in deposits or liabilities.
-
Strong understanding of banking products, customer segments, and distribution channels.
-
Familiarity with regulatory requirements related to retail deposits.
