Job Summary

Provide support for the implementation of Dangote Industries Limited’s (DIL) Transport policies and processes by participating in the planning and coordination of cement products and/or materials movement between the Plant and approved areas.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Traffic Management: Manage vehicular traffic, including loading and off-loading activities at the Plant, to ensure overall orderliness and efficiency of depot operations.

• Storage Coordination: Ensure appropriate storage of incoming materials at the designated facilities within the Plant.

• Dispatch & Loading: Coordinate the loading of products onto allocated trucks for dispatch to approved locations outside the Plant.

• Customer Support: Coordinate the efficient and timely loading of customers’ trucks with purchased products on a First-In, First-Out (FIFO) basis.

• Vehicle Allocation: Ensure timely allocation of vehicles for collecting spares and other items required by the plant or other user departments.

• Backhaul Optimization: Ensure all vehicles return with raw materials from designated locations whenever there is feasibility to do so.

• Transporter Liaison: Coordinate with transporters to acquire real-time information regarding the arrival of trucks, truck breakdowns, and any other emergency occurrences.

• Incident Management: Ensure all accident reports and related documents are collected on time.

• Fuel Efficiency: Monitor and ensure the recovery of Automated Gas Oil (AGO) for short-kilometre trips.

• Compliance & Safety: Ensure all plant logistics activities fully comply with DIL’s Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) standards.

• Reporting: Develop and submit detailed reports of logistics activities at the Plant, providing recommendations where necessary.

• General Duties: Perform any other duties assigned by the Head of Department (HOD) and senior management.

Key Requirements

Education and Work Experience

• Education: Bachelor’s degree or its equivalent in Business, Transport & Logistics, or any other related field.

• Experience: Minimum of two to three (2-3) years of practical experience in transport management.

Skills and Behavioural Competencies

• Good understanding of trends, challenges, opportunities, regulations, and legislation relating to the cement manufacturing industry.

• Sound knowledge of DIL’s product and service offerings.

• Working knowledge of inventory management terminologies, methodologies, and approaches.

• Basic knowledge of system-based inventory management systems.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills alongside excellent attention to detail and quality.

• Excellent oral and written communication skills.

• Basic proficiency with relevant supporting tools and technologies, such as MS Excel and project management applications.

• Strong willingness to learn, improve, and adapt to changing requirements.
