Position Summary

The Local Sales Manager will be responsible for leading market development activities across Tanzania, managing distributor and customer relationships, driving sales growth, and overseeing the performance of the local sales team.

The role requires extensive knowledge of the agrochemical industry, strong leadership abilities, and the capacity to develop and execute effective sales strategies.


Key Responsibilities

Market Development & Sales Growth

  • Manage overall market development activities across Tanzania.
  • Expand and strengthen sales channels and distribution networks.
  • Maintain strong relationships with distributors and key stakeholders.
  • Develop and manage relationships with large-scale farming clients.
  • Promote company products and increase market penetration.

Sales Planning & Execution

  • Develop regional sales plans aligned with annual sales targets.
  • Implement market operations, including:
    • Product stocking and inventory planning
    • Regular customer visits
    • Field demonstration trials
    • Product promotion campaigns
    • Marketing and promotional events

Market Operations Management

  • Oversee the complete order management process.
  • Monitor and manage product pricing.
  • Maintain healthy market order and distribution practices.
  • Conduct competitor analysis and market intelligence gathering.
  • Follow up on customer payments and accounts receivable collection.

Team Leadership & Management

  • Lead, supervise, and motivate the local sales team.
  • Conduct daily coaching and product training sessions.
  • Organize and participate in field visits and market surveys.
  • Support business negotiations and strategic partnerships.
  • Drive continuous improvement in regional sales performance and brand visibility.

Job Requirements

Core Mandatory Qualifications

Industry Experience

  • Proven experience in agrochemical sales within the Tanzanian market.
  • Strong understanding of:
    • Crop diseases and pests
    • Agrochemical products and applications
    • Sales and distribution channels
    • Distributor management systems
    • Large-scale farming operations

Communication Skills

  • Fluency in both English and Swahili.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship management skills.
  • Ability to independently develop and maintain customer accounts.

Market Knowledge

  • In-depth knowledge of:
    • Tanzania’s agrochemical market
    • Competitor products and pricing
    • Local sales and distribution models
  • Ability to quickly design and implement effective sales strategies.

Personal Attributes

  • Able to work under pressure and meet sales targets.
  • Willing and able to travel extensively within Tanzania, including rural farming areas.
