Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) Intern

Company Description

SNV Netherlands Development Organisation http://www.snv.org/ is a Dutch-based international development organisation that provides market-based solutions for the poor through local institutions and organisations in 24 developing countries in Asia, Africa and Latin America.

Working in Agriculture, Energy, and Water, Sanitation & Hygiene, we have built a long-term, local presence in Asia, Africa and Latin America. Our global team of local and international advisors works with local partners to equip communities, businesses and organisations with the tools, knowledge and connections they need to increase their incomes and gain access to basic services – empowering them to break the cycle of poverty and guide their own development.

With over 50 years of working to support Tanzanian communities, we have a long track record of achieving scale and sustainability that makes a lasting difference in the lives of people in poverty. SNV in Tanzania’s diverse portfolio covers climate-smart agriculture, landscape conservation, renewable energy, and water, sanitation and hygiene.

Empowering Smallholder Farmers for Food Security and Climate Resilience (NOURISH Tanzania) is a five-year project that aims to achieve resilient food security and improve nutrition for SHF households in key regions of Tanzania.

The project focuses on two areas, both of which experience food insecurity and malnutrition, but which are distinctly different: the central-northern zone (Singida, Dodoma, Manyara) which suffer from acute food insecurity and Southern Highlands (Songwe, Rukwa) which faces chronic malnutrition.

The project has reached its mid-term stage and has established a strong foundation for implementation by improving smallholder farmer households’ knowledge of climate-smart agriculture and nutrition practices, while also strengthening engagement with critical stakeholders. Moving forward, the project aims to deepen adoption by consolidating access to essential services, strengthening linkages, and addressing key systemic barriers that have been identified.

Through this placement, the project seeks to strengthen its monitoring, evaluation and learning function through management collection data collection and analysis and learning while ensuring high-quality data is always available for project management and learning purposes.
