Watumishi Housing Investments (WHI) invites qualified and dynamic Public Servants interested in joining the organization through transfer to apply for the following vacant position.
About WHI
Watumishi Housing Investments (WHI) was established in 2013 to implement the Public Servants Housing Scheme (PSHS). WHI operates as a property developer and a licensed fund manager responsible for managing the Watumishi Housing REIT (WH-REIT).
Position: Engineer I (Environmental)
Number of Posts: 1
Duty Station: WHI Head Office, Dar es Salaam
Salary Scale: WHIS 5
Duties and Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Collecting data for Environmental and Social Impact Assessments (ESIA).
- Monitoring construction sites to ensure compliance with Occupational Health and Safety regulations.
- Undertaking and designing solid waste management systems.
- Identifying and quantifying environmental pollution, including water and groundwater pollution.
- Preparing conceptual design proposals and project briefs.
- Developing design proposals into workable drawings under supervision.
- Preparing detailed construction environmental engineering installation drawings for building projects.
- Applying relevant environmental legislation, policies, regulations, codes, and manuals in project design work.
- Preparing preliminary Bills of Quantities (BoQ) and cost estimates for environmental engineering projects.
- Preparing draft project work programs, schedules, and budgets.
- Conducting physical site data collection for technical audits and assignments related to building projects.
- Participating in condition surveys of existing structures and preparing reports.
- Collecting and verifying building project design data before use in design work.
- Collecting data for feasibility studies.
- Undertaking and/or coordinating Environmental and Social Impact Assessments.
- Performing any other duties assigned by supervisors from time to time.
Qualifications and Experience
Applicants must possess:
- A Bachelor’s Degree in any of the following fields:
- Quantity Surveying
- Building Economics
- Building Survey
- Construction Management
- Or an equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
- Registration with the Architects and Quantity Surveyors Registration Board (AQRB) as a Graduate Quantity Surveyor.
