Job purpose
The Sales and Loan Recovery Officer will be responsible for driving business growth through effective sales of financial products and ensuring timely recovery of loans.
The role combines customer relationship management with credit monitoring, aiming to maximize revenue while maintaining healthy loan portfolios. The officer will actively engage clients, provide tailored financial solutions, and implement recovery strategies to safeguard the company’s financial stability.
Key responsibilities
Sales and business development
- Promote and sell loans and related financial services to new and existing clients.
- Identify customer needs and provide tailored financial solutions.
- Achieve set sales targets and contribute to revenue growth.
- Guide clients through the loan application process.
- Ensure accurate documentation and timely processing.
Loan monitoring and recovery
- Track loan performance and repayment schedules.
- Identify early warning signs of default.
- Recommend restructuring options where necessary.
- Implement effective collection and recovery plans.
- Negotiate repayment schedules with delinquent clients.
- Coordinate repossession and disposal of assets when required.
Client relationship management
- Maintain strong, professional communication with clients.
- Handle queries and concerns respectfully to preserve trust.
- Build long-term relationships that support business growth.
Compliance and reporting
- Ensure all sales and recovery activities adhere to company policies and legal requirements.
- Prepare regular reports on loan portfolio performance on a weekly basis.
- Provide insights to management for decision-making.
- Work closely with sales and credit risk departments.
- Perform all duties to be assigned by the supervisor.
Skills and experience
The ideal candidate should have the following skills and experience:
- Strong networking and problem-solving skills.
- Must be aware of market trends, competitors in the market and future threats.
- Expert marketing skills and ability to implement new and innovative marketing strategies.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Experience in the digital and social media space.
- Experience of working with Microfinance Institutions will be an added advantage.
- Experience in debt collection, repayment negotiations, and recovery strategies.
- Understanding of credit risk management and loan portfolio monitoring.
- Strong numerical and analytical skills for assessing loan performance.
- Ability to identify early warning signs of default and propose solutions.
Desired qualifications
Applicants should have the following qualifications:
- Minimum of Diploma in Business studies.
- Computer literate.
- Experience in sales and loan recovery will be an added advantage.
