Position Summary
GardaWorld Tanzania is seeking an experienced Head of Finance to lead the company’s finance function. Reporting to the Finance Director – Africa, with a dotted reporting line to the Managing Director, GardaWorld Tanzania, the successful candidate will oversee financial planning, budgeting, reporting, internal controls, treasury management, payroll, and compliance while providing strategic financial leadership to support business growth and decision-making.

Direct Reports
The Head of Finance will directly supervise:
- Chief Accountant
- Payroll Accountant
- Management Accountant
- Credit Control Manager
- Procurement Manager
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
Financial Planning and Analysis
- Conduct financial analysis, including budget performance and month-on-month variance analysis.
- Provide timely explanations for budget variances and financial performance.
- Prepare accurate financial forecasts and support strategic planning.
- Work closely with Business Unit Directors and departmental heads to develop annual budgets and business plans.
Financial Reporting
- Ensure timely preparation and submission of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Produce accurate management reports to support executive decision-making.
- Review and maintain the General Ledger and Chart of Accounts to ensure accurate financial reporting.
- Liaise with external auditors and coordinate audit adjustments where necessary.
Payroll Management
- Oversee payroll operations to ensure salaries and wages are accurately processed and paid on time.
- Review and approve payroll calculations before payment.
Financial Controls and Compliance
- Develop, implement, and continuously improve internal financial controls and procedures.
- Update and maintain financial policies and operational procedures.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, Tanzanian tax regulations, and statutory requirements.
- Safeguard company assets through effective financial governance.
Treasury and Cash Management
- Oversee treasury operations and banking relationships.
- Manage company working capital effectively.
- Approve:
- Local Purchase Orders (LPOs)
- Electronic Funds Transfers (EFTs)
- Supplier payments
- Payment cheques
- Ensure suppliers are paid accurately and on schedule.
Credit Control
- Support the Credit Control function.
- Ensure outstanding debts are collected promptly and customer issues are resolved efficiently.
Team Leadership
- Lead, mentor, and develop the finance team.
- Conduct performance management in line with company HR policies.
- Promote continuous professional development and service excellence within the department.
Expected Outputs
The Head of Finance will be expected to deliver:
- Timely monthly financial and management reports.
- Accurate budgeting and forecasting processes.
- Efficient payroll and supplier payment approvals.
- Reliable financial information to support business decision-making.
- Effective working capital management.
- Strong internal controls and statutory compliance.
- Full compliance with Tanzania Revenue Authority (TRA) regulations and other legal requirements.

Qualifications and Experience
Applicants should possess:
- Bachelor’s Degree in:
- Business Administration
- Finance
- Accounting
- Or an equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) qualification or an equivalent professional accounting certification.
- Membership with the Institute of Certified Public Accountants or another recognized professional accounting body.
- Minimum 10 years of experience in Accounting and Finance.
- At least 5 years of management-level experience.
- Strong expertise in:
- Financial management
- Budget preparation and control
- Financial analysis
- Accounting policies and procedures
- Financial reporting
- High level of computer literacy, including:
- Microsoft Office Suite
- Advanced Microsoft Excel
- Microsoft Dynamics NAV (NAVISION) or similar ERP systems.
- Sound knowledge of Tanzanian tax laws and financial regulations.
