Job Summary
World Vision Tanzania is seeking a qualified Agriculture Extension Facilitator to support agricultural activities within refugee camps in Kigoma. The successful candidate will work closely with refugee communities to promote sustainable kitchen gardening, improve agricultural practices, and enhance food security through community education, technical support, and regular field monitoring.
Key Responsibilities
1. Community Education on Contextualized Kitchen Gardens (35%)
- Conduct community sensitization on natural resource management plans.
- Promote sustainable agricultural practices suitable for refugee camp settings.
- Raise awareness on environmental conservation and resource utilization.
Expected Outcome
- Community members are sensitized on natural resource management.
2. Training on Kitchen Gardening (25%)
- Train community members on establishing and managing kitchen gardens.
- Provide technical guidance on appropriate gardening techniques for refugee camps.
Expected Outcome
- Improved community knowledge and adoption of kitchen gardening practices.
3. Farm Input Management (10%)
- Ensure the availability of agricultural inputs.
- Facilitate the proper distribution and application of farm inputs.
Expected Outcome
- Farm inputs are available and effectively utilized.
4. Home Visits and Technical Support (20%)
- Conduct regular supportive visits to household kitchen gardens.
- Monitor progress and provide technical advice to improve productivity.
Expected Outcome
- Improved agricultural knowledge and practical skills among beneficiaries.
5. Organic Manure Preparation (5%)
- Mobilize and support community members in preparing organic manure.
Expected Outcome
- Organic manure is produced and utilized.
6. Reporting (5%)
- Prepare and submit accurate weekly and monthly activity reports.
Expected Outcome
- Timely and accurate reports submitted.
Qualifications
Education
Applicants must possess a Bachelor’s Degree in one of the following fields:
- Agricultural Extension
- Horticulture
- Crop Production
- Agricultural Engineering
- Or a related agricultural discipline from a recognized institution.
Required Experience
Candidates should have:
- Experience working in humanitarian operations and refugee programs.
- Experience in community-based agricultural activities.
Preferred Skills
- Strong communication skills.
- Good interpersonal and self-expression skills.
- Ability to work effectively with diverse communities.
