Key Job Purpose

The Operations Manager is responsible for exercising operational control, directing the execution of company policies and procedures, and ensuring that all departmental activities—including operations control, personnel management, and truck operations—comply with company standards.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Ensure truck turnaround performance to achieve 500 km per day and meet monthly budgeted revenue targets.
• Plan, develop, organize, direct, manage, and evaluate transportation routes in line with business development activities.
• Direct transportation operations activities, including truck dispatching, routing, tracking, and monitoring.
• Develop and implement transportation health, safety, security, QMS, and Occupational Health & Safety (OH&S) programs.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements related to transportation activities.
• Manage key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure transportation efficiency and effectiveness.
• Work with the SHEQ department to investigate accidents, identify causes, and improve safety procedures.
• Investigate and resolve customer complaints while managing Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
• Mentor, train, and develop operations staff.
• Recommend capital expenditures for acquiring new trucks, equipment, and property to improve operational efficiency.
• Manage and evaluate operations staff performance.
• Coordinate customer complaint resolution together with the Commercial Manager.
• Prepare weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual operations reports for management review.
• Manage stock control and ensure inventory records are accurate and up to date.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Logistics and Supply Chain Management or Business Management.
• Minimum of five (5) years of working experience in a managerial role within the logistics industry.
• Strong knowledge of transportation operations, compliance, safety management, and team leadership.
