With a rapidly expanding customer base of more than 3,000 customers in Tanzania, WATU is seeking a motivated Customer Care Officer to join its Mwanza team.

Position Summary

The Customer Care Officer is responsible for delivering excellent customer service while supporting sales and marketing operations. The role involves handling customer inquiries and complaints, conducting telesales, maintaining customer databases, supporting market research activities, and assisting with promotional initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will:

Handle inbound and outbound customer communications, including phone calls and SMS.
Respond to customer inquiries and resolve complaints professionally and efficiently.
Conduct telesales activities through inbound and outbound calls to generate leads and acquire new customers.
Build, update, and maintain customer and lead databases.
Follow up regularly on leads generated through customer care activities and convert them into active clients.
Provide customers with accurate information about WATU’s products and services.
Process customer forms, applications, and orders.
Identify and escalate priority customer issues to management.
Collect and evaluate relevant information to resolve customer complaints and inquiries.
Record customer comments, inquiries, complaints, and actions taken.
Coordinate with internal departments to ensure efficient service delivery.
Compile customer data and prepare reports, including weekly collections and performance reports.
Perform any other duties assigned by management.

Qualifications & Experience

Applicants should possess:

Diploma in Marketing, Business Administration, or a related field.
A Bachelor’s Degree (BSc) in Marketing, Business Administration, or a related discipline is an added advantage.
At least 2 years of relevant experience in customer service, customer care, or telesales.

Required Skills & Competencies

The ideal candidate should have:

Proven experience in customer service or telesales.
Good understanding of office administration, sales, and marketing principles.
Strong multitasking and time management skills.
Ability to remain calm and respond effectively during emergencies.
Ability to maintain customer confidentiality.
Customer-focused attitude with excellent organizational skills.
Knowledge of market research techniques and customer databases.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
Experience using CRM software and other marketing applications.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Strong interpersonal and relationship-building abilities.
