Job Summary
The Laboratory Technician will be responsible for supporting laboratory operations by conducting quality analysis, maintaining laboratory equipment, ensuring compliance with quality standards, and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives within the production process.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and acquire laboratory requirements for each shift.
- Support team management, including coaching and staff development.
- Promote Occupational Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) standards.
- Maintain effective working relationships within the team and across shifts.
- Ensure proper care and management of laboratory assets and processes.
- Operate with cost consciousness while maintaining quality standards.
- Facilitate problem-solving and root cause analysis.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives at shift, department, and site levels.
- Promote effective two-way communication within the team.
- Apply Manufacturing Management System (MMS) best practices, tools, and techniques.
- Monitor quality triggers and effectively use the Escalation Matrix during process deviations or equipment breakdowns.
- Prepare accurate laboratory records, reports, and documentation.
- Ensure timely adoption and effective use of organizational systems such as Harford and Orbis.
- Perform equipment calibration to ensure data accuracy using Standard Process Charts.
- Uphold quality standards throughout the production process.
- Embrace behavioral changes that support the organization’s Way of Working.
- Maintain 5S standards and cleanliness in the laboratory and work environment.
- Take ownership of continuous personal development.
Qualifications
Applicants must possess a Bachelor of Science (BSc) in one of the following disciplines:
- Chemistry
- Food Science and Technology
- Microbiology
- Biochemistry
- Laboratory Biotechnology
Experience and Skills
- Minimum 2 years of experience in the food or beverage industry.
- Hands-on experience in laboratory testing or quality analysis.
- Strong understanding of laboratory procedures and quality assurance.
- Ability to work effectively in a manufacturing environment.
- Good communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
