Position Overview
WFP Tanzania is seeking a motivated Youth Volunteer (Innovation Unit) to support innovation initiatives within the Country Office.
The successful candidate will contribute to:
- Designing and coordinating innovation activities.
- Conducting research on emerging solutions.
- Documenting innovation projects and lessons learned.
- Supporting knowledge management activities.
- Engaging with partners within the innovation ecosystem.
This role provides an opportunity to gain practical experience in humanitarian innovation, partnerships, programme design, and development solutions.
Purpose of the Assignment
The Youth Volunteer will support the Innovation Unit in exploring, documenting, and coordinating innovative solutions that strengthen programme impact.
Key areas of support include:
- Innovation research and ecosystem engagement.
- Programme coordination.
- Documentation of innovation initiatives.
- Knowledge management and learning activities.
Key Responsibilities
1. Innovation Programme Coordination
The Youth Volunteer will:
- Support planning and coordination of innovation initiatives within the Country Office.
- Assist in organizing:
- Innovation workshops.
- Innovation clinics.
- Learning events.
- Support engagement with partners from:
- Government institutions.
- Private sector.
- Academia.
- Innovation ecosystems.
- Assist in preparing innovation project documents and presentations.
2. Innovation Research and Scouting
Responsibilities include:
- Conduct research on emerging innovations relevant to WFP operations, including:
- Climate-smart agriculture.
- Digital finance.
- Clean energy solutions.
- Circular economy approaches.
- Other development innovations.
- Prepare research briefs to support innovation programming and decision-making.
3. Knowledge Management and Learning
The Youth Volunteer will:
- Support documentation of innovation initiatives, lessons learned, and best practices.
- Assist in preparing:
- Case studies.
- Briefing notes.
- Innovation reports.
- Support updating innovation knowledge repositories and documentation platforms.
Expected Deliverables
During the assignment, the Youth Volunteer is expected to contribute to:
- Documentation and briefing notes on innovation initiatives.
- Reports from research activities and innovation events.
- Updated innovation knowledge management platforms.

Required Qualifications
Applicants should have:
A University degree (or currently completing studies) in any of the following fields:
- Innovation / Entrepreneurship.
- Business Administration.
- Agricultural Economics.

Supervision
The Youth Volunteer will work under the direct supervision of the Head of Innovation Unit and collaborate with programme teams across the WFP Tanzania Country Office.
