Position Overview
The Supply Chain Planning & Logistics Lead will oversee Jaza’s end-to-end supply chain operations, including:
- Supply chain planning.
- Demand forecasting.
- Procurement.
- Vendor management.
- Logistics coordination.
- Inventory management.
The role is critical to supporting the company’s rapid expansion by ensuring materials, equipment, and assets are available at the right time, cost, and quality while maintaining compliance with procurement policies and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
1. Supply Chain Planning
The successful candidate will:
- Develop and maintain demand forecasts aligned with project schedules and business growth.
- Create and implement supply chain strategies that support scalability and operational flexibility.
- Coordinate planning activities with project, engineering, and operations teams.
- Prepare weekly, monthly, quarterly, and ad hoc supply chain reports.
2. Procurement Management
Responsibilities include:
- Lead procurement processes for locally sourced equipment, materials, and services.
- Manage purchase orders in accordance with Jaza procurement policies.
- Identify, evaluate, and manage suppliers to support business objectives.
- Guide staff and vendors on procurement procedures.
- Ensure all procured goods and services comply with company procurement standards.
- Build and maintain strong supplier relationships.
- Negotiate contracts, pricing, and delivery terms to optimise cost and quality.
- Maintain procurement records, including:
- Requests for Proposal (RFPs).
- Vendor documentation.
- Procurement files.
- Ensure compliance with organisational policies and regulatory requirements.
3. Logistics & Distribution
The role holder will:
- Coordinate inbound and outbound shipments with freight providers.
- Oversee transportation, warehousing, and distribution activities.
- Optimise shipping routes, transportation methods, and inventory storage to reduce costs and delivery times.
- Manage customs clearance and regulatory compliance for international shipments.
- Ensure proper documentation for imports and exports, including bills of lading and customs documents.
- Resolve shipping delays and logistics issues.
- Oversee inventory accuracy and warehouse stock management.
4. Vendor & Stakeholder Management
Responsibilities include:
- Evaluate and onboard suppliers.
- Ensure suppliers comply with safety, quality, and sustainability standards.
- Monitor supplier performance.
- Implement continuous supplier improvement initiatives.
5. Data Analysis & Reporting
The successful candidate will:
- Monitor key supply chain performance indicators.
- Track:
- Lead times.
- Inventory levels.
- Procurement cycle times.
- Overall supply chain efficiency.
- Identify supply chain risks and develop mitigation plans.
- Review procurement documents, purchase orders, inventories, and reconciliations for completeness and accuracy.
6. Process Improvement & Automation
The role includes:
- Collaborating with software teams to implement scalable supply chain systems.
- Leveraging technology to automate procurement and logistics processes.
- Supporting continuous process improvement initiatives.
7. Compliance & Risk Management
The successful candidate will:
- Ensure supply chain activities comply with environmental, safety, and regulatory standards.
- Develop contingency plans for supply chain disruptions.
- Maintain knowledge of Tanzanian import regulations and locally sourced procurement requirements.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
Performance will be measured using:
- Hubs-to-Build targets.
- Capital Expenditure (CAPEX) per site.
- Inventory accuracy.
- Import costs.
- On-Time In-Full (OTIF) delivery performance.
Required Skills & Competencies

Qualifications & Experience
The ideal candidate should have:
- 8–10 years of professional experience in supply chain management, procurement, logistics, or related fields.
- Demonstrated experience managing end-to-end supply chain operations.
- Strong procurement and vendor management experience.
- Experience in logistics coordination and inventory management.
- Knowledge of importation procedures and Tanzanian regulatory requirements.
- Experience supporting fast-growing organisations is an added advantage.
