Main Duties & Key Responsibilities

Risk Review & Committee Participation: Participate in the Bank’s credit committee to review creditworthiness and risks associated with potential business transactions using appropriate tools and models, providing mitigants to identified risks.

Financial & Non-Financial Analysis: Analyze financial and non-financial data for proposed credit to determine the degree of risk involved in extending credit or lending money, including full assessments of liquidity, profitability, and credit histories.

Credit Application Approval: Conduct full reviews of all credit applications received from business units and make recommendations to HOCC/EXCO for approval.

Portfolio Quality & Risk Monitoring: Monitor all aspects of the Bank’s credit risk management process to ensure alignment with approved governance, escalating exceptions with recommendations to senior management.

Problem Account Management: Work closely with the Credit Quality Assurance Unit to proactively identify problem accounts and recommend timely remedial actions.

Loan Remediation Support: Support the loan remediation team in negotiating workout plans and strategies for delinquent customers.

Branch Supervision & Guidance: Supervise, mentor, and guide Credit Managers at branches to ensure the onboarding of quality business and strict adherence to bank policies, procedures, and KYC requirements.

Cash Flow & Structuring Assessment: Assess client businesses for accurate cash flow analysis, proper loan structuring, and required loan amount propositions.

Policy Compliance & Exception Escalation: Ensure strict adherence to approval procedures and credit standards outlined in the lending manual, ensuring all credit policy exceptions are escalated and authorized by senior approving authorities.

Reporting & Internal Service: Prepare and present the Monthly Activity Report for the Credit Underwriting Unit at HOCC, while delivering high internal customer service focused on accuracy, responsiveness, and agreed turn-around times (TAT).

Training & Mentorship: Provide ongoing training and consultation to lending officers at both the Branch and Head Office levels.

Portfolio Growth: Ensure the overall growth of a quality loan portfolio and undertake any other duties assigned by the immediate supervisor.
