About the Role
Thomson Safaris Ltd is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Junior Safari Guide to join our team in Arusha. The ideal candidate will be passionate about Tanzanian wildlife and culture, committed to delivering exceptional customer service, and eager to learn alongside experienced professionals.
Key Responsibilities

Guest Experience & Guiding: Lead engaging game drives and bush walks, providing informative interpretations of wildlife, flora, fauna, geology, birds, and Tanzanian culture and history.

Safety & Compliance: Ensure guest safety at all times, adhere strictly to all park regulations, and monitor group behavior (especially when guiding families with young children).

Vehicle Maintenance & Logistics: Conduct regular inspections to maintain vehicles in peak operating condition. Work with Safari Operations and the main workshop to accurately record fuel usage, mileage logbooks, and maintenance schedules.

Teamwork & Mentorship: Collaborate closely with Senior Guides to learn from their expertise, actively contribute during team briefings, and coordinate with camp staff to accommodate guest requests.

Communication: Clearly and professionally present information to guests and maintain strong internal team coordination.
Skills & Qualifications

Experience: Minimum 3 years of experience as a Safari Guide within the hospitality/tourism industry.

Licensing & Driving: Active license/registration from the relevant board and a clean Class āCā driving license.

Education: Qualification in Wildlife Management from an accredited higher learning institution (a university degree in a related field is an added advantage).

Language Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.

Knowledge: Extensive understanding of wildlife, ecosystems, safari practices, and Tanzania National Park rules.

Technical Skills: Basic mechanical knowledge with a certificate from a recognized institution is a strong advantage.

Personal Attributes: Strong organizational skills, high physical fitness to meet the demands of the role, and the ability to handle sensitive situations with discretion.
