About the Role

Cambridge Education Tanzania Limited (CETL), through the Shule Bora Project, is establishing an internship programme to provide recent graduates with practical experience in the Finance Department.

The internship offers an opportunity to gain hands-on experience supporting the implementation of a large-scale, government-led education programme while developing professional finance and accounting skills.


Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will:

  • Assist in preparing bank reconciliation statements and ensure they are reviewed and submitted within deadlines.
  • Manage petty cash and perform regular cash reconciliations.
  • Record cash transactions accurately in the appropriate cash book or bank book.
  • Maintain up-to-date financial records for submission to the UK Head Office.
  • Support cash payments and disbursements, including per diem payments.
  • Prepare reconciliations and supporting documentation for payment retirements.
  • Assist in compiling vendor lists and organizing payment vouchers for batch processing.
  • Prepare payment vouchers and cheques.
  • Ensure timely settlement of undisputed invoices.
  • Verify that payment vouchers meet audit requirements, including approvals and supporting documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with withholding tax and other applicable tax regulations.
  • Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor.

Requirements

Applicants must:

  • Be a Tanzanian citizen.
  • Have 2–3 years of relevant work experience.
  • Hold at least an Upper Second-Class Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent) in:
    • Finance
    • Accounting
  • Demonstrate strong problem-solving skills.
  • Have good communication and time management skills.
  • Show a genuine interest in improving education in Tanzania.
  • Be fluent in both spoken and written English.

About the Shule Bora Project

Shule Bora is a UK Aid-funded, government-led education support programme designed to improve the quality of pre-primary and primary education in Tanzania.

The programme supports the implementation of the Education Program for Results (EPforR II) and operates nationally while providing technical assistance across nine regions of Tanzania.

The project is implemented by Cambridge Education in partnership with:

  • ADD International
  • International Rescue Committee (IRC)
  • Plan International

Project Objectives

The programme focuses on four key outcomes:

  • Improving learning outcomes for all children.
  • Increasing girls’ transition rates to secondary education.
  • Ensuring children are safe in and around schools.
  • Improving access to quality education for children with disabilities.
