Job Purpose

The Transmission Engineer will be responsible for the installation, operation, maintenance, and technical performance of Azam TV’s DTH Headend and Satellite Uplink Teleport systems.

The role involves managing video signal processing, satellite transmission infrastructure, and broadcast systems to ensure continuous, reliable, and high-quality TV services.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain headend systems, including:
  • Encoders
  • IRDs
  • Multiplexers
  • Modulators
  • Automation systems
• Manage satellite uplink systems, including:
  • High Power Amplifiers (HPA)
  • L-Band systems
  • RF chains
  • Antenna control units
• Monitor live broadcast signals to ensure service uptime and quality across uplink and DTH platforms.
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical faults affecting headend and teleport systems.
• Coordinate with the Network Operations Center (NOC) to respond to system alerts and performance issues.
• Implement and manage Conditional Access Systems (CAS).
• Manage signal routing through:
  • ASI
  • IP
  • RF
• Maintain technical documentation, including:
  • Signal paths
  • Equipment configurations
  • System incident reports
• Support:
  • New channel integrations
  • Uplink projects
  • Frequency migrations
• Conduct preventive maintenance on:
  • Teleport antennas
  • HPA systems
  • Headend equipment
• Participate in shift rotations and provide emergency/on-call technical support when required.

Required Qualifications and Experience

Applicants should have:

• Bachelor’s Degree in:
  • Electronics Engineering,
  • Telecommunications Engineering, or
  • Related field.
• 1–3 years of experience in:
  • Satellite teleport engineering, or
  • DTH headend engineering.
• Strong knowledge of:
  • DVB-S/S2 standards.
  • MPEG-2/MPEG-4 technologies.
  • IP-based video delivery.
• Hands-on experience with:
  • RF systems.
  • Satellite uplink chains.
  • Monitoring tools.
• Familiarity with:
  • Encoders.
  • Multiplexers.
  • Modulators.
  • Upconverters.
  • HPA systems.
  • LNB systems.

Additional Skills and Competencies

• Knowledge of Conditional Access Systems (CAS).
• Experience with:
  • IP and ASI signal workflows.
  • Redundancy configurations.
• Strong documentation and fault-reporting skills.
• Ability to work independently under pressure.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
