Position Overview

Barrick Mining Corporation is seeking an experienced Underground (UG) Development Manager to lead underground development operations at its Tarime mine. The successful candidate will oversee underground development projects, manage multidisciplinary teams, ensure safe and efficient operations, and drive continuous improvement while upholding Barrick’s operational and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead, coach, and motivate underground development teams, including supervisors, engineers, and technical personnel.
• Plan, design, and oversee underground development projects such as:
  • Shaft sinking
  • Tunnel excavation
  • Underground infrastructure construction
• Ensure compliance with:
  • Health and safety regulations
  • Environmental standards
  • Mining industry best practices
• Manage project budgets and monitor expenditures to ensure cost-effective project delivery.
• Track project progress, prepare performance reports, and recommend improvements.
• Collaborate with mine planning, engineering, and operations teams to achieve project objectives.
• Apply technical expertise in underground mining, mine development, geotechnical engineering, and mining engineering practices.
• Identify and implement opportunities to improve safety, productivity, and operational efficiency.
• Ensure compliance with mining regulations, industry codes of practice, environmental requirements, and community relations policies.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mining Engineering.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively with people from diverse cultural and professional backgrounds.

Experience & Skills

Applicants should have:

• Minimum 10 years of experience in an underground development management role.
• Extensive experience in underground mine development operations.
• Experience working across different mining regions and mining methods.
• Ability to interpret mining plans and technical specifications.
• Strong leadership, planning, budgeting, and project management skills.
• Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
