Position Overview

Barrick North Mara is seeking an experienced Foreman – Mine Development to supervise underground development activities, ensure safe and efficient operations, coordinate daily production activities, and support continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure underground development operations meet safety targets through:
  • Safety leadership
  • Lead indicator systems
  • Enforcement of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
• Support achievement of development targets through:
  • Daily planning
  • Weekly and monthly development plans
  • Production reporting
• Ensure teams follow approved development plans and maintain compliance with operational standards.
• Provide leadership and support to:
  • Continuous Improvement programs
  • Training teams reporting to the position
• Plan and coordinate daily activities, including:
  • Work scheduling
  • Resource allocation
  • Coordination with development supervisors, mine engineers, and engineering teams
• Complete and approve daily shift reports.
• Maintain accurate inspection records and operational documentation.
• Provide required reports and data to management.
• Lead and supervise development shift supervisors in executing daily activities.
• Ensure employees have required job-related training and maintain updated training records.
• Ensure compliance with:
  • Mining regulations
  • Industry codes of practice
  • Environmental standards
  • Community relations policies

Qualification Requirements

Applicants should have:

• Tertiary education or Ordinary Secondary Education.
• Valid Blasting Certificate according to Tanzania mining regulations.
• Valid driving license.
• Diploma or Degree in Mining Engineering will be an added advantage.

Experience & Competencies

Required experience and skills:

• Minimum 5 years of experience in an underground development supervisory role.
• Strong knowledge and experience in underground development operations.
• Experience working with different mining regions and mining methods.
• Ability to lead underground teams and coordinate daily mining activities.
• Good understanding of safety management and compliance requirements.
• Strong planning, reporting, and communication skills.
