Position: Technical Operator
Job Purpose
The Technical Operator is responsible for operating, monitoring, maintaining, and improving packaging line equipment to ensure the safe, efficient, and timely production of high-quality products.
The role includes operating production machinery, performing autonomous maintenance, maintaining product quality at source, and supporting the Asset Care team during maintenance activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Start up, operate, shut down, and monitor equipment according to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Follow all Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) policies and procedures.
- Capture accurate production data using company reporting platforms.
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene around production equipment.
- Ensure products consistently meet quality standards through Quality at Source activities.
- Operate equipment within its designed operating parameters.
- Ensure machinery is properly maintained and safely operated.
- Conduct routine Look–Listen–Feel (LLF) inspections and raise maintenance work requests when required.
- Perform equipment changeovers and machine adjustments efficiently.
- Carry out Autonomous Maintenance activities, including:
- Cleaning
- Inspection
- Lubrication
- Tightening (CILT)
- Apply LOTOTO procedures where required.
- Support the Asset Care team during preventive maintenance and equipment breakdowns.
- Follow the escalation matrix during process deviations or equipment failures.
- Troubleshoot machine problems using standard problem-solving tools.
- Adhere to Quality Trigger procedures as outlined in SOPs.
- Apply Manufacturing Management System (MMS) best practices.
- Utilize digital manufacturing systems such as:
- Orbis
- Harford
- STRATA
- Minimize production costs by reducing waste, including:
- Water
- Energy
- Time
- Raw materials
- Product extract losses
- Create Preventive Maintenance (PM) notifications and update completed work orders in SAP.
Qualifications
Applicants should possess either:
- FTC (Full Technician Certificate), or
- Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering.
Experience & Skills
Candidates should have:
- At least 1 year of experience operating industrial machinery in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience performing autonomous maintenance.
- Good understanding of machine operation and production processes.
- Basic troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of safety, quality, and environmental standards.
- Ability to work effectively within a production team.
