Job Purpose

The Power Systems Engineer will provide technical leadership in the design, installation, testing, commissioning, and maintenance of electrical power systems. The role involves managing HV/MV/LV systems, ensuring reliable power infrastructure operations, supervising projects, and maintaining compliance with engineering standards and regulations.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design, installation, testing, commissioning, and maintenance of electrical power systems.
• Manage HV/MV/LV power systems, substations, transformers, switchgear, and power distribution networks.
• Perform power system studies, protection coordination, and system performance analysis.
• Supervise contractors and ensure compliance with project specifications, engineering standards, and regulations.
• Manage project schedules, budgets, risks, documentation, and quality delivery.
• Review and approve electrical designs, technical submissions, and commissioning reports.
• Provide technical guidance to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient power system operations.

Required Skills & Competencies

• Strong expertise in HV/MV/LV power systems, substations, and electrical distribution networks.
• Strong project management skills with the ability to deliver projects on schedule and within budget.
• Proficiency in power system analysis software such as ETAP or DIgSILENT PowerFactory.
• Knowledge of SCADA systems, protection systems, and IEC/IEEE standards.
• Strong understanding of testing, commissioning, quality assurance, and regulatory compliance.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and stakeholder communication skills.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (Power Systems) from a recognized university.
• Must be a Registered Professional Engineer with the Engineers Registration Board (ERB) and hold a valid practicing licence.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in electrical power systems design, installation, testing, commissioning, and maintenance.
