About the Role
Vodacom is seeking an Agri-Finance Specialist responsible for developing, implementing, and managing digital lending products designed specifically for the agricultural sector.
The role will focus on creating innovative financial solutions for farmers, Agri-SMEs, and agricultural value chain players by working with financial institutions, fintech companies, cooperatives, and other stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
1. Product Rollout & Go-To-Market (GTM)
- Lead end-to-end rollout of agricultural finance pilots.
- Develop implementation and expansion plans.
- Train and mobilise field teams and agents.
- Design incentive structures.
- Track project milestones.
- Identify and resolve operational challenges.
2. Portfolio & Repayment Management
- Manage loan portfolio performance.
- Develop collection processes and repayment strategies.
- Establish early-warning indicators.
- Define loan restructuring approaches.
- Lead field recovery activities.
- Achieve Non-Performing Loan (NPL) and Portfolio at Risk (PAR) targets.
3. Field Operations & Farmer Onboarding
- Manage farmer group onboarding processes.
- Ensure KYC/KYB compliance.
- Support customer, merchant, and agent enablement.
- Conduct KYC verification.
- Manage digital channel operations.
4. Stakeholder & Partnership Management
Build and maintain relationships with:
- Agricultural input suppliers
- Agri-businesses
- Cooperatives
- Financial institutions
- NGOs
- Local government authorities
Responsibilities include:
- Negotiating Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs).
- Developing co-financing arrangements.
- Managing strategic partnerships.
5. Project Governance, Monitoring & Evaluation
- Manage pilot projects according to timelines and budgets.
- Develop operational dashboards.
- Prepare regular reports for internal and external stakeholders.
- Monitor project performance and outcomes.
Qualifications & Experience
Applicants should have:
- Bachelor’s Degree in:
- Agribusiness
- Finance
- Economics
- Business Administration
- Related fields
Master’s Degree is an added advantage.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in:
- Digital lending
- Agricultural finance
- Fintech
- Mobile financial services
