Position Overview

The Landscape Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Manager will lead monitoring, evaluation, learning, and reporting activities for WCS’s Greater Ruaha-Katavi Landscape Program. The role involves designing M&E systems, monitoring project performance, analyzing data, supporting program implementation, and strengthening evidence-based conservation decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

Monitoring & Evaluation

  • Establish project baselines for new interventions.
  • Develop data collection tools, questionnaires, and monitoring systems.
  • Design and implement the program’s Monitoring & Evaluation Plan.
  • Conduct field monitoring visits and data quality assurance.
  • Analyze qualitative and quantitative data.
  • Monitor implementation against project work plans.
  • Maintain electronic and hard-copy M&E records.

Program Management

  • Support annual work planning and project reviews.
  • Consolidate landscape program reports.
  • Review consultant reports and provide technical feedback.
  • Prepare monthly progress reports and donor reports.
  • Assist in proposal development and technical documentation.

Learning & Capacity Building

  • Organize learning and reflection workshops.
  • Train staff and partners on M&E systems and data management.
  • Strengthen M&E capacity across project teams.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Collaborate with government agencies, NGOs, and conservation partners.
  • Support communication by documenting success stories and conservation impacts.
  • Represent WCS in meetings, conferences, and stakeholder engagements when required.

Minimum Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in one of the following:
    • Natural Sciences
    • Environmental Science
    • Social Science
    • Economics
    • Development Studies
    • Natural Resource Management
    • Program & Project Management
    • Monitoring & Evaluation
  • A Master’s degree is an added advantage.

Experience

  • At least 4 years of experience in Monitoring & Evaluation.
  • Experience developing and implementing M&E frameworks.
  • Experience supporting donor-funded conservation or development programs.

Required Skills

  • Strong analytical and data management skills.
  • Experience with quantitative and qualitative data analysis.
  • Excellent communication and facilitation skills.
  • Experience conducting training and capacity building.
  • Strong knowledge of:
    • M&E tools
    • Databases
    • Computer applications
    • Information management systems
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in remote field environments.
  • High integrity and professionalism.
  • Valid driving license and 4×4 driving experience is preferred.
