The successful candidate will be responsible for operating and maintaining the water treatment plant to ensure consistent water quality and quantity for distillery operations, while also managing weighbridge activities and maintaining accurate records.

Job Purpose

The Water Treatment Plant & Weighbridge Attendant will ensure efficient operation of the water treatment plant by producing the required quality and quantity of water for the distillery and related utilities.

The position is also responsible for operating the weighbridge, ensuring all incoming raw materials and outgoing alcohol products are properly weighed, recorded, and controlled.

Key Responsibilities

Water Treatment Plant Operations

Operate the water treatment plant efficiently to meet production requirements.
Ensure water quality and quantity standards are consistently achieved.
Monitor plant performance, safety, housekeeping, quality, and environmental standards.
Identify and report process deviations and equipment breakdowns.
Conduct routine plant inspections and report abnormalities.
Perform required plant cleaning activities according to manufacturer instructions.
Maintain accurate operational records through log sheets and computer systems where required.

Water Treatment Processes

The employee will perform critical water treatment activities including:

Backwashing of filters.
Checking chemical stock levels.
Regeneration of water softeners.
Regeneration of demineralised water units.
Conducting water quality analysis at required intervals.
Reporting quality deviations and supporting corrective adjustments.

Weighbridge Management

Operate the weighbridge according to company procedures.
Record all incoming raw materials received at the plant.
Record all alcohol leaving the site.
Maintain accurate weighbridge documentation.
Submit shift records to the Logistic Foreman.

Safety, Quality & Compliance

Follow ISO 22000 requirements and company safety procedures.
Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental, and quality standards.
Properly use required personal protective equipment (PPE).
Follow lockout and safety procedures during plant operations.

Required Qualifications

Applicants should have:

Diploma or certificate in:
- Water Treatment
- Environmental Science
- Related technical field

Advanced Level Certificate with Mathematics or Science subjects.
Additional certification in water treatment operations is an advantage.

Required Skills & Experience

Technical Knowledge

Basic knowledge of:
- Chemistry
- Biology
- Environmental science
- Water treatment processes

Experience

1–2 years’ experience working in:
- Water treatment plants
- Manufacturing environments

Fresh candidates with relevant technical training or internship experience may also be considered.

Key Skills

Effective communication skills.
Understanding of safety procedures.
Knowledge of lockout procedures.
Ability to maintain accurate records.
Attention to detail.
Ability to work in an industrial environment.
