Raising The Village (RTV) is an international development organization focused on addressing ultra-poverty in Sub-Saharan Africa.
The organization’s Venn department serves as its data and technology backbone, combining data analytics and digital tools with field implementation to support evidence-based decision-making.
Job Summary
RTV is recruiting 143 Part-Time Data Collectors to support field surveys conducted by the Venn department.
Data Collectors will collect and verify survey data used to monitor and evaluate RTV programs, support program design and resource planning, and assess organizational reach.
Successful candidates will work under the guidance of the RTV Venn team and must follow established research procedures, ethical standards, and data-quality requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Attend training on evaluation procedures and digital data collection tools.
- Participate in pretesting data collection tools.
- Conduct informed consent processes with local leaders and survey participants.
- Arrange and conduct interviews according to established guidelines.
- Follow assigned work plans and meet daily and overall targets.
- Ensure collected data is accurate, complete, and properly cleaned before submission.
- Review data for accuracy, completeness, and consistency.
- Maintain respondent confidentiality and follow secure data-handling procedures.
- Properly maintain assigned equipment, including:
- Tablets
- Chargers
- Power banks
- Carrying bags
- Perform other related duties assigned by RTV field personnel.
Qualifications and Experience
Applicants should have:
- A Bachelor’s Degree in any field.
- Previous experience in data collection and management is an added advantage.
- Demonstrated proficiency in probing techniques during interviews and surveys.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision while achieving assigned targets.
- Previous experience in research methods is an added advantage.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Experience with digital data collection tools, particularly:
- SurveyCTO
- Survey123
- Preference may be given to candidates who are residents of the stated districts.
Skills and Competencies
- Ability to travel extensively and work in remote and hard-to-reach areas.
- Physical ability to work long hours and walk significant distances in the field.
- Strong teamwork and ability to work independently.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong commitment to data ethics and moral values when working with rural communities.
- Demonstrated integrity and ability to maintain the organization’s credibility.
- Fluency in Kiswahili is mandatory.
- Good working knowledge of English is preferred.
- Knowledge of local languages such as Kihaya/Kinyambo is an added advantage.
