About the Role
The Cane Supply Officer will ensure a sustainable and uninterrupted supply of high-quality sugarcane to the mill. The role involves implementing the company’s cane supply strategy, maintaining strong relationships with sugarcane growers, promoting agricultural best practices, coordinating cane logistics and yard operations, and monitoring cane quality and harvesting-to-crushing timelines.
The successful candidate will also be expected to promote continuous improvement, leverage group expertise, comply with SHERQ standards, and contribute to a strong safety culture.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement the cane supply strategy to ensure consistent sugarcane availability.
- Maintain strong relationships with sugarcane growers.
- Promote agricultural best practices among growers.
- Coordinate cane transportation, logistics, and yard operations.
- Monitor cane quality and harvesting-to-crushing timelines.
- Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in cane supply operations.
- Work with relevant teams and leverage group expertise.
- Ensure compliance with SHERQ standards and company procedures.
- Promote and maintain a strong workplace safety culture.
- Support effective planning and organization of cane supply activities.
Minimum Qualifications
- Minimum 2-year Diploma in:
- Agriculture
- Logistics
- Transport Management
- SASRI Junior Certificate course, or willingness to complete it during the first year of employment.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in agriculture or logistics.
- 3 years’ experience as an Assistant Farm Manager is preferred.
