About the Employer
The Embassy of Switzerland in Tanzania represents Switzerland in diplomatic relations with Tanzania and covers political, economic, financial, legal, scientific, educational, and cultural matters.
The Embassy also implements a significant cooperation programme in Tanzania, working with government institutions, NGOs, private-sector organizations, and national and international agencies.
The Embassy is seeking a proactive, dynamic, and competent professional to develop and manage initiatives focused on innovative financing mechanisms and public-private partnerships (PPPs).
Key Responsibilities
1. Project Management & Stakeholder Engagement – 75%
The Program Officer will independently manage assigned projects under the Swiss Cooperation Programme Tanzania, particularly those related to impact-linked financing and private-sector development.
Responsibilities include:
- Planning and managing projects throughout the project cycle.
- Handling procurement, risk assessments, contracting, and contract management.
- Monitoring project implementation and progress.
- Reviewing and analyzing project indicators.
- Reviewing operational and financial reports.
- Establishing and maintaining strong relationships with public- and private-sector stakeholders.
2. Economic Analysis & Policy Advice – 15%
- Analyze and monitor Tanzania’s macroeconomic environment.
- Monitor developments in the Tanzanian business environment.
- Prepare reports on relevant economic developments.
- Provide expert advice on private-sector engagement and economic governance.
- Assess relevant policy developments and their implications for Swiss cooperation.
3. Global & Multilateral Initiatives – 10%
- Serve as the Embassy’s contact person for relevant global and multilateral initiatives.
- Engage with institutions such as the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and World Bank.
- Coordinate with the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs and other relevant Swiss Government institutions.
- Facilitate information sharing and coordination on matters relevant to the Embassy.
Education & Qualifications
- Master’s degree in:
- Economics
- Business Administration
- Related field
Required Experience
Candidates should have:
- At least 7 years of professional experience in:
- Macroeconomic development
- Business environment
- Economic governance
- Or a related field
- Relevant experience working in or with the private sector.
- Ideally, at least 5 years of professional experience in or with development cooperation.
- Demonstrated project-management experience, particularly in:
- Project planning
- Monitoring
- Results-based management
- Reporting
- Experience in private-sector engagement.
- Experience with innovative financing mechanisms, including:
- Impact-linked finance
- Public-private partnerships (PPPs)
