PHYSIOTHERAPIST – KAFIKA HOUSE

Kafika House is seeking a motivated, self-driven, and compassionate Physiotherapist to join its Patient Care Team at its facility in Arusha.

The successful candidate will provide therapeutic care to children with disabilities before and after surgery, helping them achieve greater independence in their daily activities.

About Kafika House

Kafika House is an international NGO based in Arusha, Tanzania. Its programme provides a safe and nurturing home away from home for children receiving pre- and post-operative care and rehabilitation for surgically treatable disabilities.

The programme supports children affected by conditions including:

• Cleft lip and palate
• Clubfoot
• Skeletal fluorosis
• Burn scar contractures
• Osteomyelitis

Kafika House’s vision is that no child in Tanzania should live with a treatable disability.

Key Responsibilities

The Physiotherapist will:

• Plan, prepare, and lead daily individual and group paediatric therapy sessions.
• Conduct initial patient assessments and develop individualised care plans.
• Document patient progress in paper and electronic medical records.
• Participate in daily and weekly patient care rounds and provide wellness updates and care plan adjustments.
• Provide high-quality, holistic clinical care while advocating for patients.
• Support partner hospital clinics and screenings, including patient advocacy and care coordination.
• Participate in ongoing education programmes and Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
• Share knowledge and skills with members of the interdisciplinary team.
• Contribute to Kafika House clinics, including clubfoot treatment, gait training, and splinting.
• Supervise therapy assistants, students, and interdisciplinary interns.
• Participate in community outreach activities, including patient screening, advocacy, and disability awareness.
• Foster a caring environment that promotes healing, rehabilitation, and inclusion.

Education, Skills & Experience

Applicants must have:

• A Bachelor’s Degree in Physiotherapy or an equivalent qualification from a recognised institution.
• Registration with a relevant professional body in Tanzania.
• At least 3 years of clinical experience in paediatric physiotherapy.
• Strong teamwork, communication, and time-management skills.
• A compassionate and patient-centred approach to care.
• Ability to adapt to changing environments.
• Proficiency in computer use, documentation, and care plan development.

Added Advantages

The following will be considered an advantage:

• Knowledge and practical experience in the Ponseti method.
• Previous experience working with an NGO or rehabilitation centre.
